Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: MEGA SAT cheating...

From reading this I can see the main theme is cheating/colluding, but the last few posts have also mentioned hand-for-hand play. This really needs to be happening in these multi-seat, multi-table satellites. I had the ridiculous skill of pure bubbling both the Wed and Thurs 8.30pm satellites for the Monte Carlo, coming 51st in both with 50 seats gtd. The fact that no hand-for-hand is going on, so some tables have players all timing down whilst others play quicker is simply not right/fair/whatever and this also makes collusion that little bit easier. Thankfully just got a seat in the £5 rb......

He's from Sheffield, met him yonks ago playing £10 or £20 rebuys in Napoleons next to the dog track in Sheff, has a shocking record down at DTD so hopefully he'll do well in this one, just about to jump in car and come down to rail him, tell him to hold onto the 800k Oh - and he's not worked much since his 'Ross Kemp on gangs' series....

He did say only 'pot' and first but when it was made clear to him that this was not valid, he definitely said 'i want to bet the pot'. Anyway, what do I know, about 10 mins later I managed to get all of my chips in against Cf's top set on a Q-high board , thank goodness for re-entry

I was on the table in question last night when the 'pot' incident happened. I remember it pretty clearly and.......
The player who was due to act said 'pot', this got a quizzical reaction from the dealer. He then said 'i want to bet the pot' and was told that he could not do this. Another player at the table asked for the floor to be called - she said that a similiar situation had happened at DTD before and in that instance the player had also been made to 'check' (which is what ended up happening this time once the TD came over).
However, after saying 'pot', the player did clearly say aloud that he wanted to 'bet the pot' (and there had been no previous betting action on the flop) - should he then have to put chips in as he has announced he wanted to bet? Maybe a min-bet in this case?
Also, the post about the word 'pot' being the same as the word 'banana' - I totally understand what dik9 is saying here - it could just have been any old word he said. But, if I say 'banana' next time it's my turn to act at the poker table I don't think i'll be forced to check my hand in that spot, so it kind of hasn't turned out the same in this situation has it?

Alex
Was sat on your right on £0.50/1 on Friday night and commented i'd been reading this thread and finding it interesting - you then went on to say that you'd made day 2 of the Monte Carlo and had high hopes. Seen the result and got to say I'm very pleased for you, well done and best wishes. Doubt i'll see you on £0.50/1 again for a while now!!!!

Shaun
I've never posted on these forums before but having read your thread (and then spent an hour of my life going back over the updates from Sun night) I felt like I wanted to congratulate you on your final table finish in the Monte Carlo.
Was at DTD on Friday night and both myself and my mate - Dave Smart - noticed you were playing the MC and were saying to each other that we'd always found you to be a decent bloke, having both played with you and chatted when your were working the DTD bar and hoped you had a good run. Sadly (for me poker-wise) I was out for dinner on Sun night but Dave went down to play the Super 50, said he saw you briefly and wished you well.
I've read all about the A-K and as I'm a total sucker for Big Slick getting my opinion on this would be a waste of time! Having read your post I was just wondering (obv you don't have to answer) - If your intention was to move up the pay ladder, how did you intend to do that? Were you planning on going into shutdown/fold mode and hope for the best or were you planning on picking spots and if so - would a better spot than the AK blind on blind have really arisen?
I really can't imagine what was going around in your head during that hand - I don't have a family as yet and have certainly have never won anywhere near as much as 20k in one sitting at the poker table and I would imagine that in that situation it must be incredibly intense. Sometimes I think people forget that poker is a game played by human beings and not robots.....
To be honest I've always thought you should play even tighter as once I remember trying to push you off a pot with 9-9 only for you to tank and call with 10-10. Wish you'd had A-K bloody suited then!!
Congratulations again, will no doubt see you at DTD in the very near future.
Chris
