A quick "good luck" message to animalpoker (aka Rob Price) who, minutes ago, had a Top 10 stack in the WSOP O8/Stud thing.
The thing with Rob is that he has a super aggro style, so he's never far from doubling or busting.
This screenshot from the WSOP+ jobbie was a bit ago, but he WhatsApp'd me minutes ago & was on 660k. He had a bruising loss with Queens full to Kings full but since then has got right back into it.
Thx mate Managed to bag 930k which was the highest I’d been all day taking a nice pot of Gus Hansen at the end in O8. Hellmuth joined our table for the last hour too Was fun , time to rest up and hopefully go deep at the business end tomorrow 1pm restart (8pm uk time) Well done Rob. I can't load it on WSOP+ at present, but here's the Top 10 of the memaining 27 according to Poker News; 1 Tobias Hausen Germany 2,005,000 25 2 Shirley Rosario United States 1,745,000 21 3 Jason Daly United States 1,660,000 20 4 Christopher Claassen United States 1,420,000 17 5 William Flachsbart United States 1,240,000 15 6 Benny Glaser United Kingdom 1,115,000 13 7 Ryan Hughes United States 940,000 11 8 Robert Price United Kingdom 930,000 119 Brian Rast United States 760,000 9 10 Gary Benson Australia 730,000 9 And your Table Draw... 626 2 Jon Kyte Norway 305,000 3 626 3 Lynda Tran United States 240,000 3 626 4 Ryan Hughes United States 940,000 11 626 6 Alexander Orlov Russia 435,000 5 626 7 Patrick Stacey United States 185,000 2 626 8 Robert Price United Kingdom 930,000 11Thanks Played with 3 of them quite a bit yesterday The short stacks will make for a fast dynamic with more luck as well as the huge blinds 10/10/40/80 stud And 20/40 40/80 O8 Redraw at 24 left anyways I think , also no phones after that point I believe , I’ve used music a fair bit in this tournament so might miss it a bit , determined to not replace that with alcohol though . I’m actually dry for 3 of the last 4 days . Slept well considering how excited I am . Restart in 3 hours , off out to get food shortly and probably stock the fridge with something for dinner too .

So, our friend the PLO Professor.
I was messing about on YT pre-trip looking for stuff on Big O. There's very little in the domain, & after some searching up popped The Poker Professor who has made scores of PLO Coaching Videos.
It never took me long - maybe 3 minutes - to become aware that I was wasting my time & as a PLO coach he was fos. No problem, live & let live, & good luck to him.
Anyway, I arrive in Vegas & seem to bump into him at all the PLO games.
It's hard to miss him really. Lank, unkempt hair that's not been washed in weeks, topped off with a Top Hat, & he seems to possess Top Hats in a whole range of colours. Looks a picture...
As you will have noted from the video, he has one of those grating voices, reminds me very much of Beavis & Butthead. It's fine for a few minutes, but he literally never stops talking, & if anyone tried to reply or add to the convo, he just talks louder.
And in fact all he does is articulate his thoughts.
"If I'd of called I'd have won that" in a masterpiece of how to ruin our language, "I had 7-7-7-8-8". (Almost the worst possible starting hand in Big O).
"I woulda got 2 pairs if I'd of called" & so on.
And every sentence included "like" 78 times.
"So I've, like, got, like, 7-7 like, &, like, sorta thing, I raise like"..... This, I should add, is from a fully grown adult.
And we had that every hand, for 5 or 6 hours non-stop.
Eventually, to the relief of everyone at the table, he bust. And moments later took his seat at a cash table right next to our table. And off he went again.
It's just a complete lack of self-awareness. Probably a decent chap, but maybe someone needs to give him a steer.
PLO Professor, my arse. Dirge Professor, more like.
lol I knew he would do your head in when we were back to back at the V , only played an hour or so cash with him and earphones went in very quickly

What’s on today sir and how did you get on yesterday ? Can’t see you at the Venetian plo yet , but I assume you’ll be playing here tomorrow ?
Rode my luck for a min cash yesterday but did get a stack at one point so was hopeful of a really deep run until I lost a large key pot as 60/40 on the flop when it all went in. Played with jeff madsen half the day but didn’t clash much other than a cooler I was on the right side of. Also played with Gus Hansen for the first time and managed to bust him on an uneventful lucky pot.

Out myself Lost 2 huge pots and bust on another that would have got me right back into it . Was in great shape in all 3 for at least half or scoop and lost all 3. Feel sick , 1st one was probably for a top 3 stack in the room. 6pm local time , not sure how I stay off alcohol tonight .

After spending most of level 5 and 6 at 12.5-25k and riding my luck plenty I’ve somehow spun up to 67k and now have a Russian $500 bounty in my pocket - it feels like a cash already even though I’m in for 1600 to start . I think the delay was about 30-40minutes Table already moaning on whether we get another break in 40 minutes or not now we have resumed 😁 All playing very face up at moment, already stole couple of small pots since stacking up
Corona count…. zero so far

Bizarre scenes here 40 mins b4 the next break and on a 15 min break ( at least ) Seems like dealer pulled chips in on a 3 way all in incorrectly and they going to cameras to check the action to try correct it Surely dealer errror and rest of tournament continues ? I had a 10 minutes wait cos of iPad fail the other day I had a 15 minutes delay when dealer messed up other day and had to he removed after going nuts at the calm players trying to explain it I guess V has diff rules lol I think Tony still in according to atlas anyways

Indeed we shall see.
You keep getting into position Tony, one of these days....
Maybe Tom, maybe. Being brutally honest, & this is not false modesty, I'm not good enough at the $1,600 Buy-In level & need to get very lucky. But when I somehow get into the money spots at that price level it's SUCH a thrill. Whereas at, say, up to $600 or $800 I do genuinely fancy my chances & only have to get a bit lucky. I'm utterly fascinated at how our minds work in these things, self-confidence (or not) & self-esteem. Anyway, Venetian beckons. Will try & do some 'photos, it's such a lovely & well-run room. Chalk & cheese compared to the grand sounding MGM Grand. at the 1600 level are the players really that different than at 800 or 600? surely its generally the same sort of people doing just what you are doing buy in wise . jumping into what is on that day at varying stakes . some will be really good , some really bad. and you have half a century of experience against most of them. I don’t think there’s much difference these days . Probably a slightly less appeal to recs so slightly lower proportion of bad players . 1st break Tony 47k Myself 12.5k Already trying to decide whether I re enter or not should I bust soon 300/600/600

Time to update this thread for an update as it’s far too long for X .
What a weird 24 hours I’ve had. It began at 2pm MGM big O , checked my emails and had one from the cash game manager at the WSOP asking to call or pop in and see him. No details, good news or bad news ? Who knows ? I did lose some unopened $5 dental floss in there the previous night, surely wouldn’t waste time on something so trivial , could it be the 13 or 14 coronas I had the same night (playing until 3:30am) ?
Anyways I wasn’t about to spend £x on a phone call so it can wait until after I bust . MGM was a subdued affair , I had a tougher table than most and no tools to work with often so lots of folding until I gambled in an ok spot 3 way and scooped. 3.5 x starting stack at the colour up which I’ve done 5 times this trip (as chipleader) but only cashed twice but for some reason seat 2 with only 90k wanted it ( one of those “nice guys” that get angry when they lose any pot under their breath , so I wasn’t going to argue )
Tikay was in the room all afternoon so imagine the shock I had when his seat had been filled by some Asian lad , surely he had moved table but I couldn’t find him so assumed he had hit the wall earlier than me , though several levels in . A few levels later I’d had gone from 1.5x average stack to busto after losing 2 standard allins , either of which would have took me to about 5 x starting stack with a big chance of a much needed cash and deep run.
So it was the walk of shame to Paris to find out what this email was about. Cosmopolitan for a sandwich seemed a good idea and the lighting of early evening was beautiful as I walked there . Queue was too long so decided to head to the French place near the poker room for rotisserie turkey ( my 6th visit there as convenient place and can use reward points ) , was ok , chicken is better there though .
The floor in question wasn’t on the evening shift so I headed for the most senior looking one to show my email . After about 10 minutes of discussion, most of which was him on the phone to Jake ( the senior email guy ) we headed for the cage . At this point I still had no idea if it was good or bad news, I’d been asked if I was playing Big O 2 nights ago and if I recalled cashing out $1,845 that night . The figure actually rang a bell , I was drunk but not silly drunk that night , but would have been very tired when I cashed out .
At the cage I figured I’d either been overpaid 100 or underpaid 100 and after a couple of minutes the floor guy said don’t worry it’s good news and I thanked him as he headed off . Paperwork still being done by the cashier , at this point I messaged 3 people to say I was $100 short , ideal .
Finally cashier apologised for the delay and reached into her draw but to my astonishment brought out a bundle of $1000 in hundreds , I’ve been paid 845 instead of 1845 😁
1/2/5 big O was surprisingly profitable for 700 too , no alcohol on the whole day too, I think that’s my 3rd dry day from 15 nights out here . Not my finest hour and I keep telling myself to rein it in a bit .
Finished at midnight (early night for vegas) and was asleep by 1am. Had ideas of a long gym session , maybe even my first venture to the pool this trip. 12:10pm V big O or 2pm WSOP HORSE my options for today . Turned out I needed 9 hours sleep and by the time I got to the gym it was after 10:30am . Checking messages and this forum I suddenly realised ( thanks to Tony ) today’s V starts at 11:10am , not the usual 12:10pm for V ones . Panic mode as hate missing start of tournaments 10:45am left gym 10:50am back in room, shower etc 11:03am left room 11:07am in taxi ( only one I’ve used this trip apart from airport run) 11:13am Palazzo lobby 11:15am poker room. Queue to enter And get sat only missing 8 minutes of the first level
35k starting stack today $1600 $500 bounty if eliminating anyone with the high hand Not started well going down to 12,500 before doubling up Currently 21,000 Mr Kendall right behind me on about 40,000 , 75 minutes in .
Edit … ideas of a sandwich or Mac ds on way to V were quashed . Breakfast = a snickers almond bar and about to have a hot chocolate . Edit… forgot to mention I look scruffy as can be, no time for the planned shave either
