2  Poker Forums / The Rail / New Open Face Chinese app for iPhone, Android & the web on: November 19, 2013, 01:56:29 PM
Hi all,

Firstly - sorry if this type of post isn't allowed.  I skim-read the posting guidelines and couldn't see anything re: advertising.  This is a free product and I'm not selling anything, just trying to get some feedback and let people know about my App.

So the app is Open Face Chinese Poker.  I'm sure you have all played any number of other offerings which I have seen in the other threads here, but I believe mine is the first which allows you to play vs people on Android phones/tablets, iPhone/iPad/iPod and PC/Mac.  A few other features which stand out in the app are:

* 2-4 player games
* Fantasy Land - QQ+ fantasy land is included at no extra cost
* Private game mode - Play with just your friends, or leave public to meet new players
* Facebook integration - Single click sign in
* Free to play with no ads

Download/Play here: (ANDROID) (iOS) (WEB)

I have developed the app in my spare time and have been working with my friends and members of the Newcastle Poker Forum who I regularly play live OFC cash games with to get this app right and test etc.  It has gone public now and I have about 1k active users but still only my close friends and the same BETA testers are giving me feedback.  If you guys here at Blonde could try it and let me know what you think is good/bad or what extra features to include.  If this happens, I will be quite active ITT and let you guys know what is and isn't possible and give pretty good insight as to timescales and stuff.

I have some stuff already on my to-do list and the three at the top are:
Add rules/how to play page inside the mobi apps
Criss-Cross HU tables
Pineapple

About me: My name is Stephen Groom and I'm a poker player turned software developer.  I have had pretty decent success in cash games and used to play on Sky Poker mainly.  I lurk on here quite a lot to follow live tournaments but rarely venture out to play them myself as I know I can make a better hourly playing £1/2 cash than in <£300 tourneys but I'm not rolled/cormfortable playing anything bigger.  I got hooked on open face around the end of last year while I was playing poker for my living and after seeing that all of the apps available were turn-based and pretty crap so set out to make an OFC client that was more like major poker sites.  I think I have succeeded in doing this and now am a full-time software developer.  Developing this Open Face app is now purely a hobby and I would estimate that I spent around 20 hours per week on it.  If you have any interest in my failled Poker career or anything I also used to write a blog which is linked in my signature.

Look forward to hearing your guys thoughts. Gl
Stephen

Good to see that the Grosvenor are living up to their reputation of making absolutely horrid cardroom rulings time and time again.  To say that this is a bad ruling is completely correct but I would go further and say that is absolutely shocking and downright embarrasing for this to have happened in a £1k event.

@"Players responsible for protecting their cards at all times "

The cards were protected.  They were shown face up over the betting line having both been declared all in.  Once a hand has been exposed there is no need for a player to have any concern with it.  Often dealers will scoop a hand in to place it dramatically on either side of the board.  This comment /\ is nonsense.

In this situation the cards should speak.  Everyone knows what the hands are/were and regardless of whether or not an incompetent, stressed or crazy dealer mucks them, burns them or eats them the two hands are still at showdown and a board should be ran out and the hand played on.

If we haven't been given the complete information and the dealer has mucked the hands and then the stub also then this becomes a lot more difficult but the hands should 100% not be declared dead.  Grosvenor should have a procedure for this and a way to reconstruct a board.

I really hope that the TD is disciplined for this, what a joke...
