1  Poker Forums / Live Tournament Updates / Re: Paris WPT Live Update, Day 1b on: June 14, 2006, 01:54:13 AM

Jen & I just had a ciggie break, during which a nice gentleman tapped me on the shoulder & said he enjoyed watching me on PNL. (No, really, he did....). Turned out his name is Tom Cherrett, (online "annacash") & he said he just played €10 MTT's & stuff, a "novice" he described himself as. "What you doing here Tom?", I enquired.

It transpires that he entered a Freerill on Poker Heaven - 1,400 runners - & won the thing, winning himself a seat in the Paris WPT. He ended Day 1a with 26,975. How wonderful.

Gotta be nice to him, he represents over 50% of my Fan Club, if we include Flushy.

Yep - Tom (aka ANAKASH) qualified via our Online Series of Poker - a series of 12 freeroll's culminating in a final where the winner took a seat in Paris!

To find out a little more about Tom you can read his player profile on the Community section of our site.

Good luck Tom from myself and everyone at Poker Heaven!!

You'll have to excuse my ignorance (on this subject....) but what, in the context of this thread, is "PokerHeaven"? A card-room? A TV company? A person?

As Tony said - we are a skin (poker room), and we sponsored the 3 heats of the WSPO on Monday.

For those who are interested those particular heats will be shown on the Poker Channel (Sky 265) on October 13th.

Great write up Tony and it was nice to meet you yesterday.

There were 3 heats yesterday, with Tony winning his, 'El Blondie' winning the one before his, and John Kabbaj winning the days first heat.

Have to agree that there were some great players out in force yesterday - and as you mentioned Sverre looks like a very good player in the making - he was telling me yesterday that he has been a pro poker player for about a year - after injury scuppered a promising career in football!

Once the heats are completed tonight - the Semi Final's will have a very strong lineup...

For those of you who don't know much about the World Speed Poker Open - here is a link to the website...

We at PokerHeaven also hope to have our reports of the days events on the site in the next few days.....

Good of you to take the time to come on and face your unhappy customers. I was not in it myself but I think it is totally unfair to the people who had huge stacks (gambler on here for intance). Sure many will be happy with getting rebuys refunded (ie the people who were out already) but the players left in with big stacks are being penalised IMO. I know it is difficult for you and it is hard for you to please everyone but I feel some other solution should be found (could the tourney not be restarted from where it was when the fault happened?). I think the least you could do is compensate the chip leaders/ the players left in with some "free" money into their accounts, either that or maybe a freeroll for all the players who have emailed complaints to you (I am sure there will be many).

Hi Ariston,

I fully understand how frustrating it would have been for those who were still competing and as some way of compensating we will be looking into running another freeroll tournament (after tonight's one) for all those who were affected. As soon as I know any more details regarding this - emails will be sent out to those players.

For all those competing tonight, good luck!

What will you be doing about the money from re-buys and add ons
from last nights tourney???

Our customer service team will be refunding ALL rebuys and add on's - although the Christmas Party kitty idea sounds good!  Wink

Thanks Robert!

I (hopefully) look forward to some positive comments tomorrow night/friday morning!  Grin

Hi guys,

Thanks to Robert HM for alerting us to the previous thread.

The Poker Heaven team would like to apologise for last night’s cancellation of the World Speed Poker Open freeroll. This was due to a problem with our MTT server and we deeply regret any inconvenience this may have caused any of you.

We have rescheduled the tournament for this coming Thursday. The start time will be 19:30 GMT and registration will be open from 9am on Thursday morning. The same format for the tournament will apply, with the winner claiming a seat at the World Speed Poker Open – the heat will be filmed in London next Monday afternoon, 26th September.

I do hope you can participate in Thursday’s freeroll event.

Good luck!

Josh Thomas
