That moment when you travel up from cornwall to play a tournament and it gets cancelled two hours before it starts.... I'm a massive fan of DTD and the team hence why I make the long trips up.....obviously I'm massively disappointed.

Hi,

Please can you confirm the 8 max structure is exact same as main event so if there are now 9 levels played today day 2 will start on 500/1000 blinds

Thanks

Thanks tighty...

What's the situation if we win more than one seat for the main event?  If second seat not used Does it rollover to other events or does it have to be used for the main only

Thanks

Are there any live sats in the club, thurs and fri eves next week?

My image is pretty aggressive..

At the time i thought he could be doing this with A 10 but on reflection he's prob just calling with A10. So as Rexas says what bluffs can he have here?

Problem I have here is that are no straights or flushes so if i fold every time i get check raised on complete dry boards am I just going to be folding to much in general? In hindsight this hand is so player specific i guess.

I flat called the check raise and the River came a

Villain bet 210, i shipped for rest of my stack around £350 and Villian was not happy at all as he knew i must have JJ to do this but couldn't fold his trip 10's obv so made the call.

Villain says i should fold the turn....... which i kinda agree with but i just feel on a complete dry board if i fold over pairs all the time to check raises I'm just gonna be folding to much....  I think as well because i slow played JJ pre flop and did not 3 bet I thought villain would think i was not strong at all on the turn so thought he could bluff me out the pot

Hello,

First time going to Prague for the eureka/ept festival and Im hoping for some advice from people of have been before.
I see that the 24hr cash games are in czk rubles and tourney entries in Euros. Im planning on playing both but Im not sure what money to take. Should i take some of both currencies or just take Euros and then change up to CZK when i need it?  Does the casino give a good exchange rate etc?  Not keen on using my bank card everytime i want to buy in as the charges will be stupid but Looking on taking +5k cash for trip is it fairly standard to just take cash for tourneys abroad or not?

Any advice will be appreciated as I've never been to a poker festival abroad!

Cheers

Just come back from a few days at the WPT festival at DTD - first visit for quite a while living 350+ miles away Sad

No cash for me but played in the record breaking field on Friday -  the place was absolutely buzzing such a credit to everyone involved. With so many different poker nationalities present at the club it actually made me feel proud to be British - best poker club in the world for me…  the whole DTD team should take a bow!

average stack is 200k, still shove?

Live Tournament fairly deep.

blinds 6k 12k

hero playing 160k villain playing 300k and is experienced player

7 players on table

Hero    mid pos opens to 30k folds round to villain in big blind who asks how much I'm playing behind then calls.

flop  Two Clubs

Villian first to act then bets 50k

Is it a fold, shove or call ?? I was never expecting villain to bet here - expecting a check to me even with strong hands

Thoughts?

Thank you

Just read this thread and there was so much good advice and insight.

My two pence worth…  Try and create a lifestyle/income that allows you to play poker rather than playing poker for a living.

I don't think most people could enjoy playing online purely for a living unless you are making at least £70k + per year. Even if thats possible it will take unbelievable discipline  - the daily grind of day sitting in a room on a computer all night cannot be enjoyable - not long term anyway.

IMO there is no way you can trust online poker 100% anyway, it regulates itself so you can't guarantee anything. There will always be a select few who will win big $ but poker rooms need winners, it will always need the elite players for the rest to look up to. Trusting poker sites is no different to trusting bankers in the city… Just my opinion...

in 2014 To make a living from live poker IMO you need to win a big tourney early in your career or a few top 5 places and make a name for yourself- so try and sat in as many big comps as possible, and once your there play well and don't get unlucky.

Online or live making a living in poker you will need some luck regardless - do you want to rely all your future earnings on something that has an element of luck that you can't really control. In life I personally believe in making your own luck from the choices and decisions you make - in poker you can't always do that, sometimes or most the time its the poker gods.

So why not try and create or plan for a lifestyle/income that allows you to play poker rather than playing poker for a living? If you get lucky and win a big tourney early you can always change your plans. Im 35 & I run my own business, its seasonal so between April and November I might work 7 days a week 10 hrs a day but for 5 months of the year I'm more or less free to do what I want. If i want to play poker solid for a few weeks or go on tour I can this allows me to get my poker fix, This is the lifestyle i wanted to create for myself, you're at an age where you can plan what ever you want so what ever you choose good luck to you.
