Posting this as it's happening as I can't do much else. I'm in a seat position in the first GP sat on Party (first game I've played) and the software has frozen me out. Can't log back in having tried two different machines. Not the greatest experience.

Community Forums / The Lounge / Re: Tattoo discrimination?

I agree largely with earlier posters. Getting tattoos doesn't make anyone unprofessional. Expecting not to be judged by some and discriminated against by others is unrealistic though. I'm currently trying to educate my 16 year old about this basic premise. He and his peer group are in the rock music culture and body modifications including tattoos are practically compulsory membership badges. I was in exactly his position at his age and, I believe, fortunately I managed to resist getting ink ( or maybe it was parental advice prevailing). The fact that tattoos are far more mainstream today makes this a much harder task though as its much easier to convince yourself that its more widely accepted, when in reality it isn't.
Making my task even harder is the hypocracy that I did eventually get ink. I got it in my early 40's once I had an established career and held a senior position. Having said that, although its a substantial piece, it isn't visible in work clothes. I wouldn't expect my employer or his clients to have to consider whether my tattoo influences their view of my professionalism.

I think the HUD stuff is fine/good/wte it's an even playing field. But - year ago all we heard was how bad mannered the young kids are at the table when they are on their iPads not talking etc then the self confessed recreational guys are now looking forward to playing online in the club something the younger guys would be castrated for.
when I said it would be good craic, i meant it literally. I think it would probably enhance the social element of the live games. My take on the criticism you mentioned was that it was of some players taking an elitist attitude at live tables and openly disrespecting rec players. I don't know where iPads featured in it but if that was a factor then I see your point but I think its apples and oranges.
What's worse? A guy playing online with a HUD or a guy playing in the club but playing online on his iPad?
Not exactly sure what point you're making Patrick. Is it that you consider the HUD ban not good feature? I have no issue with people using a HUD but given choice, I choose to play where they aren't used. I have no issue with people using iPads at live tables either. I might even join them one day (if it's permitted of course )

I admire Rob’s integrity and respect his principles, which both reflect in the culture I experience from the staff at DTD.
I’m the target market here. I’m a recreational player with no aspiration or need to make any sort of income from poker. I play a few hours online in the week and around 3 live sessions a month. All I need is to be able to maintain my modest bankroll at a level where I can enjoy the game without selling a kidney to fund it.
I’m spoiled for choice of where I pay my rake. I can get to around 10 card rooms within an hour of my door. DTD is my venue of choice. There are closer card rooms with softer average player pools, free soft drinks at tourney tables and decent player rewards schemes. But I want the best overall customer experience for my rake shilling which for me is about a friendly atmosphere, reliability, good management of the card room, consistency and integrity.
Rob’s vision for the online club cash games gets my buy in. I signed up Day 1 and I’ve played exclusively on there ever since. I like the development of identifying players and if it is managed as well as the club games, I’ll continue to support them. If they don’t meet Rob’s target, that will be a sad reflection on the player pool.
I’m looking forward to the release of the iPoker app. Playing in the club and multi tabling online club cash at the same time will be good craic.

Was watching the FT of the online satelite ( for day2 ) and to tell the truth , I haven't seen so many BADBEATS in my life . It's must had about minimum of 5/6 beats on the day2 bubble time . Unbelievable suckout. So sick to watch . Most of ALIP won r players that are far behind , like 60/40 or worse . Never seen do many beats before in one sessions.
Yep loads of beats, all good fun! .......I had aces cracked twice, including by the mighty 8,4......still, managed to get there in the end. I think u r the 1st one to do the suckout . U move in with K10o and got snapped by AQss and the flopped was 34Q& turn was it's bring the flush draw but u faded it . After that hand, I must had saw another 4/5 beats including AA vs KK ALIP for the chips leader . K on the flopped yet AGAIN!!! So sick My exit hand (I think I finished 11th) was KK reshoved into A9...flop AA9. GG. Back on the horse tonight though

Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Badges, Branding and The Quality of DTD.

I'm a rec player. I bought a DTD hoodie on my fourth visit to the club maybe five years ago. I wear it everywhere I play EXCEPT at DTD. I wore it at the ISPT and I didn't see another DTD logo worn by anyone else. In fact I've only ever seen one other player with a DTD branded item on.
I originally bought it because: a) I wanted a hoodie and this was good quality. b) I really liked the club and was happy to be associated with it.
I play half my live and online poker at DTD but by no means would I be considered a frequent visitor by comparison with many. Having said that, I think of myself as a DTD player and I'm happy to advertise that association at my own expense for my own reasons. I'm quite surprised though, that given the support and appreciation shown to the club by so many on this forum, I don't see much evidence of that loyalty out on the felt in terms of DTD merch worn.
Sponsorship is a whole different issue.

In principle I can see merit in trialing a means of controlling this. The times proposed though seem too restrictive and I don't see why a decision window is proportional to the structure. I appreciate that the impact of a player tanking in a 20 minute level clock game has a greater impact than in a 45 minute structure but the same spot in either game should, imo, be given equal opportunity to think through.
