As I've said in a couple of places discussing this article it feels like what Rob is actually missing is the poker economy from 10 years ago. I agree with tomsom87 - I don't think it's HUDs that are primarily to blame for the way things have changed.

I was going to tip Louisville @ 7 on PP but they've literally just tightened to 11/2 Sad

I'd urge caution please on some of the comments I have seen on twitter etc as to who is on the hook for what of the 1m GTE

Simon and Rob can explain later, as to reassurances to players for the guarantee, what their financial risk is etc

I can't really blame people - one company is massively trustworthy and the other is the complete opposite.

Now a constructive question - are DTD guaranteeing just the first place prize and the ISPT guaranteeing the remaining €4 million proposed?

As I understand it, there's no other €4m guarantee - the only guarantee is €1m for first. A standard payout will be used and then, if the first place is under €1m then it will be topped up to that amount.

From OP:

Quote
As part of the agreement DTD is guaranteeing a minimum of €1 million to the winner – regardless of the number of runners, with  maximum of 20% taken out of the prize pool for first place, leaving 80% to the remaining places. The prize-pool will need to reach at least €5m to avoid any overlay

EDIT: I see what you're saying actually, nm.

I love DTD.

But never before in the history of the game has there been a poker event people have wanted to fail more than the ISPT.

I hope I'm wrong.

Surely people wanted the Epic Poker League to fail more?

Perhaps, but only because Daniel Negreanu had enough hate for 1,000 men Cheesy

I love DTD.

Let me make that clear, DTD are the BEST thing that ever happened to UK poker, hands down.

But never before in the history of the game has there been a poker event people have wanted to fail more than the ISPT. The company involved have lied through their teeth, the poker community don't believe in the concept, they have partnered with Lock Poker, the shadiest site still in existence. If DTD had been involved from the start, I think everyone would have believed in the event, but I fear it's too late.

This is exactly my view on the matter but put much better. Bravo, Sir.

I know DTD love to think big but ISPT's reputation is absolute toilet by this point and not even the wizards in Nottingham can save this poisoned chalice.

Best of luck guys, I really think you'll need it.

A 5pm start isn't enough to completely put me off some tournaments but there's some that I wouldn't bother with - slogging back to Bristol at stupid o'clock in the morning is no fun at all.

Another voice saying no to MK Dons. Would back them to go up but they've never looked like a title-winning side.

Option #2, though I don't see it happening - DTD clearly love their headline figures.

Yes it is apnea although I gotta go for some tests.

Enjoy that! It basically all involves sleeping with a bunch of odd wires/devices dangling off you  Wink

RE: the snoring/stopping breathing, you 100% have sleep apnoea. Had to deal with it myself for a bit and the solutions (as I think mentioned) were either 1) lose chub if you need to or 2) wear this stupid air mask thing.

I seriously suggest going for option 1 if you can, the mask is horrible Sad
