Congrats to 40-year old Virgil on winning the Champions League!

Just spotted this. Cheers Greg. Shocked I managed to win anything this year. Nice little sweetener after bricking everything else. Had a mare on overall rank from focussing more on the Championship - well that’s what I’m telling myself Smiley Fingers crossed Leeds get in the Prem so I can put more focus into this. May be able to see some players more in person should they begin to allow fans back in the ground at all too. Think I’ve only attended 3-4 prem games in the last 5 years.

Great story from this week with Stuart Broad finishing number 1 in the world for GW37 out of almost 6million players! Seems being a world class sportsman is a transferable skill!

A top of the table clash between Average and Shut the Window this weekend could decide the destiny of the title. Average continues to crush the H2H Brunson League, gonna have to get some tips from that manager! Fortunately, he didn't pay an entry fee so is ineligible for prizes.

The Classic is mine to lose and Kolpak looks safe in second, but with a double gameweek and GW38 madness to come, who knows.

£90/£50 payouts for first and second in both leagues with seven entrants in each.

Sane, Fernandinho and a couple of Man U clean sheets scaped me over the line to just beat the average! Was worried after the first round of games that saw me quite a lot behind with others showing bench points due to come into play too. Still hopeful I can get ahead of average to finish but need a little help from Stephen and to win my final game to get there. Flip side is I can still be caught by Gareth in the final week! Have to be honest i’ll be gutted if I fall at the final hurdle with that goal difference and after bricking everything in the main FPL this season - 4 top 20k finishes in a row followed by a 400k+ finish! Shocker!

Had a good week in the Brunson classic too but 12 points off 2nd likely a little too much to claw back in the final game week.

Personally really enjoyed the draft format overall - ir’s My first experience of it and it’s kept my attention with the transfer system etc. Let’s hope a few teams load up on more attacking prowess for next season as it seems decent striker points are hard to come by!

Interested to know people's thoughts on Tether..

As relatively new to the space I've been trying to soak up as much info as I can as I go along, but having started on coinbase that deals in actual fiat, this is the first i'd come across It..in the past few days when new huge batches were being printed in line with the dip and this was being discussed on twitter. I don't hold any or use it for transactions but concerned r.e it's impact at the forefront of some of the most liquid exchanges.

With a clear Ponzi such as Bitconnect unravelling as expected, you'd have been foolish to invest there after any kind of research, but I'm now wondering if these big exchanges are using their power in a different fashion but for similar potential consequences which could put the whole crypto space to a crash at any time. Does it need a crash where all these risks are flushed out in order to reset afresh and move forward? I say this as someone who purchased near the top, traded a bit, diversified into alts a bit via Binance and am currently hodling what I want to be a long term investment - just without the Whiskey!

I've seen the Tether issue referred to as an 'open secret' but not seen it discussed here..

Am I looking at this wrong - Are they taking it upon themselves as governors employing quantitative easing to assist the market? Is it the equivalent of good ole national debt where it doesn't matter how many times they put names to the same supply as we know that it's 'never' going to pop!? Are they genuinely creating and burning the stuff to ensure they track to the dollar and actual transactions taking place?. The IOTA story on the opening Reddit statement below makes me sceptical along with the disclaimers on the Tether website.

Do you think an audit would prove it's legit? Do you think people who touch usdt are being robbed in plain sight? Do you think it's driving price upwards but as nobody 'yet' has lost their money (due to Tether directly), it's therefore all ok and maybe even a positive? Am I talking complete b***? just being caught in a propoganda chain ?- I'm not very bright so I rely on you guys to keep me grounded! Sorry for all the questions.

This article explains this better than I could and it's not an isolated discussion so assume is one of many threads on the subject..

Found within this Reddit which I confess I haven't read much of yet so may answer some of my questions:

Crypto and security

Extra cold wallet protection

When using the ledger nano s you are given a 24 recovery phrase in case you lose your ledger. This recovery phrase in the wrong hands or lost is game over for your funds. One of the safest and not too inconvenient ways to keep yourself secure is:

  • Split your passwords into two parts (words 1-12, 13-24)
  • Keep your ledger and password phrases separate
  • Print the passwords offline onto steel sheets (I bought symbols to punch into the sheets)
  • Keep the steel sheets at separate locations, ideally with people you trust

Separately the password sheets you've created are useless. It's not a bad idea to not tell who you've given the sheets to, but now I'm being cynical. Or am I? Smiley

All good advice, thanks. I've actually gone a step further with this part and split the Nano recovery key in to 3 parts where any 2 can make up the whole. This way if 1 person loses their copy (house robbery/fire/general loss) you still have the full code. Three parts being 8 words each broken down to 1+2, 2+3 & 1+3. None of the 3 parts kept in same location as the actual device.

The safest way to store your crypto is undoubtedly using a cold wallet. I would recommend the ledger nano s. Only buy one from the official site otherwise there is a risk it is compromised.

Hmmm - I actually didn't do this. I purchased from a company called Cryptomaan. However the box came sealed and I was reassured by a note from Ledger inside the packaging which read:

'Did you notice? There is no anti-tampering sticker on this box. A cryptographic mechanism checks the integrity of your Ledger device's internal software each time it is powered on. The Secure Element chip prevents any interception or physical replacement attempt. Ledger devices are engineered to be tamper-proof.'

I guess it's better to be safe than sorry though!

CoinMarketCap: This morning we excluded some Korean exchanges in price calculations due to the extreme divergence in prices from the rest of the world and limited arbitrage opportunity.  We are working on better tools to provide users with the averages that are most relevant to them.

Nice of them to not tell the market beforehand likely causing some of today's crash! Market manipulation?!

Thanks for the responses. Just my luck that coinbase add Bitcoin cash the very day I try to prepare for it and I miss the bandwagon again haha. Now to get on some of the others before they are added too. Ripple looks good for upside potential but the volume total and levels held by the creators put me off that one a bit. The main chunk was going to go into bitcoin cash! I will look into more detail on those other options Hammer, I've seen a few of them mentioned a fair bit in here. Now, off to register with Binance!

Whichever altcoins get added to coinbase are gonna rocket fosho.

Also Cardano up about 200% in a week!

Agreeables

Whilst the train keeps rolling!!

Most of the herd know very little about cryptocurrency so they will go for the cheapest

hmmmmmmm I can get 50 Lites for one BTC mentality

Hi all, I am new to the thread and read it all over the past few days when I had a moment. A great read especially to see the comments progress over the months!

Had the same thoughts so was just reading what I could about this coinbase new coin piece last night so thought I'd post the link I'd found and ask a couple of questions whilst I'm here...

https://www.tradingview.com/chart/BCHUSD/5qpnQ3yB-Follow-the-Money-What-Coins-will-be-Added-to-Coinbase/

I admittedly am one of the herd. I'm not sure either way if this is a bubble about to burst or gold2.0 or the financial equivalent to a nuclear winter as per that Perry Marshall link! As it stands I'm risking an element i'd be willing to lose and despite today's drop, I do personally think btc and the alt mania has a way to ride with the new money entering each day. Especially with Christmas around the corner, and all those family gatherings worldwide, so will stay on board a little longer even though I got on late.

I want to take a small punt (exactly what it is with limited reading on my part (sorry Scote!)) on some of the altcoins that are likely to go on to coinbase but am stuggling to find valid insight about which exchanges are best to use in the uk to buy these right now -  in terms of safety, practicality, liquidity and low fees. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. I thought i'd found one in CEX.IO and went through the (long) registration and ID validation process, only to get on to realise minimum bank deposit is $5k with 1% fee. You can use cards but the fee % go up etc. $5k is a little bit much for the alt % I was willing to punt and that exchange BTC is actually not very good purchase price (would be good to sell though!)

Finally - Not seen this mentioned across any of the pages ITT so thought i'd share the process I personally use to get in the marke. Would be interesting to see how this matches to others who are using FIAT as the route in and whether I'm missing a trick..

in order to keep fees as low as possible and keep investments safe >>>  I convert £ to € in Revolut (good rates) and then wire by SEPA to coinbase (no fee). Then buy coins directly in gdax via coinbase € (no fee) and then send to cold storage address again directly via gdax (little to no fee dependant on coin). Along the way I was sending coins back to coinbase before sending to cold storage or purchasing directly from coinbase before realising I was getting juiced every step along the way so hope this helps for any other newbs that are looking and willing to invest/punt at their own risk like me.

That would be me I think (unless someone took a ridiculous point hit that I didn't spot). Shocker of a week! After winning it last year would have been nice to defend the title a little longer  Cheesy

Good luck those remaining

Really! thanks for the update. When I checked must have been a coincidence then as average score was same as in the main game on the week I looked.

I thought this when I saw the early season form of average but then noticed it's average from the main game so includes Captain points and people using the power chips etc so likely tips the balance a little more in its favour. Suspect it will drop away as the season progresses as the main game starts to see more dormant accounts and their injuries tot up etc.

I did it on purpose believe it or not! Made 23 transfers on my wildcard week but it shows as zero on the gameweek history. Safe to say the wildcard didn't work out  Cheesy

Morata now injured too.  Roll Eyes
