Will greenwood has just tweeted to say warren gatland will be announcing his lions captain at an event in exeter tonight.

Can't remember fred's bets on this but I think there is some exposure.
2  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Standard spot with overpair (KK) - Live 1-1 on: March 08, 2013, 05:41:31 PM

Playing Live 1-1, 9 handed.

Table has been running a couple of hours, generally pretty loose-passive pre-flop, lots of limping. Post flop play has been straight forward from everyone, nothing fancy.

Me - UTG (£160) I have not been nitty, limping along when in position with speculative hands, raising big hands, but playing tight in early position (if anyone is paying attention)
Villain 1- HJ (£80). Not been at the table long, not seen him do anything of note.
Villain 2 - BTN (£110). Been at the table from the start. Plays a wide range pre-flop and quite tight/straight forward after the flop. I won a decent size pot earlier in the night from him when I raised the button pre with 33, checked back the A-T-5 flop, then turned a set against his flopped top two pair.

The hand:

I get dealt KK UTG and make it £4. I have made it 6 pre-flop several times at the table, but every time it has been folded around, so i make it 4 this time.

Called by Villain 1 (HJ) and Villain 2 (BTN)

Flop (£14)

My plan from here on is to bet-bet-bet any non-Ace and non-four card straight on the flop and turn, then maybe evaluate the river.

I bet £9, Villain 1 calls, Villain 2 raises to £18.

Now i'm pretty happy i'm ahead of Villain 1, but would like some input on what range we would give a passive opponent min-raising on this flop, and how to proceed.

Hands we're behind that he would probably play this way that are in his range - Any set and any combo of 5-7.

I think he would have re-raised QQ pre, and maybe JJ some of the time, and would have called 10-10 and 9-9.

How often is he raising pair&gutshot draws? Overpairs?

I admit i was unsure how to play the hand from this point.

Hero???

All opinions welcome.

I guess as the session get's longer, and stacks get deeper, pre-flop ranges become wider, but people's willingness to get it in post flop tends towards a nutted / nut combo draw range.

They may be more willing to CALL down with marginal holdings, putting you on the draws, but less willing to be putting the raises in with hands that you dominate.

I think if you were a short stack looking to gamble you could get it in, but with any kind of normal/deep stack it's a fold. And from what i've read of your posts, short stacking doesn't seem your style!

£1-2 Omaha with a straddle of £4
My Stack £350
Average stack on the table is around £700, 6 handed table that's been going on all night, It's my first rotation on this table.

I’m in MP

Folds round to me,

Me – Raise to 11
CO – Calls
BTN – Calls
UTG – Calls

Flop

UTG – Bets £40
Me – Flat
BTN – Raises to £150
UTG – Calls

WWYD…..?

Fold to the flop donk. As played fold to the raise.

Our hand looks SO pretty, but with 3 opponents and this board, we are more than likely up against some combinations of the current nut straight, the nut flush draw, and a set. So we could well be looking at having just the two straight flush outs. I don't know what other card i would want to see on the turn, except maybe another jack, but even if one does come, our opponents are unlikely to put any more money in with worse hands or draws.

How many opponents would we want to be up against to continue with this hand? Could we ever get it in as a favourite?

Although i haven't played much live PLO so my assumptions of peoples holdings may be too tight. Enjoying this thread by the way!

I stumbled across an article on the history of prop betting on the Super Bowl and the growth of the sports betting scene in Las Vegas that may be of interest to people in this thread.

Good luck to everyone tonight!

Results:

I did jam and everyone folded. UTG+2 did think for a bit first, and later told me he folded A-10. I'm pretty sure he was being honest, but i was surprised my shove would fold out this hand.

what? limping is terrible? we have a very good value hand, if they will all call make it biog enough so they call wide but not everybody calls, just standard adjustment?

I think i will have to start thinking more about pre-flop actions and making more adjustments based on how the table is reacting do different raise sizes.

If we go all in in this spot do we expect opponents to put us on anything but the nuts?

Hi Guys,

First post on here. I've been enjoying reading a lot of the threads on here lately having started playing more live poker after ~10 years of online recreational play. I'm looking to improve my live game and it seems a good way is to post and comment on hands here.

Live 1-1.  9 handed

Hero UTG (£120)   been at the table a couple of hours, not got out of line
UTG+1 (~100) Raising 2-3 times per orbit Pre-flop and always C-Betting. Stack has been up and down.
UTG+2 (~80) Playing tight
CO (~130) Passive pre-flop, Loose, been splashing in lots of pots post-flop, lots of raising and making big bluffs

Hero dealt  and limps.  There is a good chance this will be limped around. I'm happy to play a multi-way pot, for a limp or to a single raise.
UTG+1 Raises to 5
4 callers and i call

Flop (31) -

May or may not be relevant - There is a Royal Flush Jackpot that gets mentioned every time it is possible. hand must go to showdown to win it

Hero Checks
UTG+1 Bets 6
UTG+2 Raises to 16
CO raises to 29
Folds to Hero who Huh?

Despite a raise and a re-raise the bet size is still not that big. All options seem awkward with these stack sizes.

Comments are welcome on all actions.
