Thank you for the book recommendations.

After I read your question yesterday I was left pondering what poker and psychology have in common. I searched the internet wanting to learn more about how our mindset shifts based on the type of hands we have. I've always thought that poker was more about math than psychology but I do recall a few hands a few years ago that reminds me of your situation. I'd get all panicky the moment I realize "this could win me a lot of money, I can't mess up!!" to end up messing up because of the stakes being so high versus doing good with an okay hand that could win me more money. Weird. I found a cool site called https://pokerhack.com/strategy/betting-when-why-and-how/ and I learned some cool tricks about using math to enhance my skills but was really looking for psychology. Anyone recommend a book?

I guess it may have to do with the stakes being higher i.e. you're not going to worry about losing $20 bucks as much as you would worry about losing $200, you know? Even though you felt good preflop knowing that you have a decent hand will send some anxiety through your body because now you have MORE to lose, as in a good hand. I wouldn't feel bad losing a semi-good hand but I'd be SUPER ANXIOUS to lose to a pair of aces. I hope I made sense. Ha!

I have to admit when I first glanced at this question I hopped in expecting to give advice on the best way to handle withdrawals from playing too much poker instead of the actual process of withdrawing winnings. Haha. I can't be the only one, right? Someone. Moving on. Congratulations on your 5 figure win. I've never past the three digits.

And the internet award goes to, drum roll...

Thanks for the laugh I was having one of those days. :-)

I enjoyed reading "Small Stakes Poker Tournament" by Jonathan Little. My brother gave me that book after I struggled with reading my opponents while he and I were hitting up our favorite casinos. It teaches newbies or veterans how to read each opponent in easy-to-follow strategies and gives a fine breakdown where it's less confusing. A good read and terrific tips and tricks in there.

I've noticed the forum doesn't have much activity which is a shame because that's one of my favorite parts of online poker the community I get to chit-chat with. I hope it starts coming back to life because it seems like a ghost town.

I'm excited that Brendan and his mom can move forward with their lives because there was no reason that young man should've been locked up. If you watched the interrogations (I'm sure we all watched this documentary) you can see that he wasn't mentally developed enough o understand what was going on and answered questions to appease everyone even if they weren't the truth.

I hope the doc ruined the practice for Brendan's annoyingly smiley lawyer Len Kachinsky. Len should be ashamed of what he did to that man's life. The New series  of making a murderer part two should be coming out soon.

This post reminds me of Annie Duke who (I'm sure you all know of her) got presented with the awkwardness of being "that girl" at the big boy's table daring to dwindle the egos of her male-counterparts.

There have been studies conducted that proves psychologically, that if you feel like an outsider, it will come at a cost - the way you play your hand at the poker table, or it could work out to one's advantage as a stereotype threat. If you're always worried about falling into the stereotypes that "girl's can't play poker" you may lose your focus and prove them right.

Women stay focus and remember God gave us all two hands and we should all be able to use them to play poker. :-)

I'm so used to the EPT events that the new Championship and Festival branding may be appropriate as far as global recognition but will cause it to be more far-removed from Europe. I mean, everybody recognizes the EPT name and respects it and to change it would be like changing the name Pepsi to just Soda. EPT sounds so much better than a festival IMO. I guess it comes down to it being more simplified.
