stinks of a made straight to me, im a bit of a nit would have played the straight the same as him and a straight flush draw. might have slowed down with 2pair on the turn just depends what i thought about the guy i was up against!!  think it was a good fold tbh.

Went the same way as flushy and pab were thinking here, thought about just raising but knew i would have to call a shove so just put it all in myself. He instafolded which surprised me a bit he must have called the re-raise pretty light, guess he wasn't quite as solid as i first thought!

Looking of some insight on how ppl would have played this hand. Would probally have been a much easier decision had I re-raised, hindsight is a wonderful thing! No read on the BB it is his first hand, lotteonm is playing tag only got 77 hands on him but seems pretty solid.

I was thinking along the same lines as alex martin and horneris, I really dont like the flat call here there is to many cards that kill my action. If I 3-bet him on the flop and he just calls it gives me a tricky decision to make on the turn. I went for the shove because im never going to that far behind and I wont have any more decisions to make (thinking hurts my head!).

If I was up against 4/5 limper's I would be just check folding a hand like this. There isn't many times when your going to be in-front plus your playing the hand OOP so it makes it even more difficult to know where you stand. Other people might have different opinions but I wouldn't putting much money (if any) into the pot with a hand like this.
13  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: How would you play this river? on: February 17, 2007, 05:42:50 AM
As soon as you bet the turn you are teling him you have the Q so you have to pot it to kill his implied odds. This basically loses you your customer, i would check to him because he raised you on the flop and may think he can get you to fold with a turn bet. If he doesn't bet the turn you are mor likely to get a value bet paid off on the end because he won't know if you're bluffing (due to his show of weakness) or value betting, so he will always lose money in that situation.

Never really thought about it like this thanks for the advice.

Say he checks behind on the turn tho what would you do when the board pairs? If you go for a value/blocking bet and he re raises how much are you willing to call as he might have just seen your check on the turn as weakness. Or do you just go for a check call on river if so how much would you call?

14  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: How would you play this river? on: February 16, 2007, 04:12:34 PM
Your river play is probably exactly how I'd have played it.

Your 1/2 pot turn bet was a little too small though- you're basically charging him $15 to win $67 ($32 in pot + your $15 turn bet + your $20 river blocker/value bet) to hit one of 9 outs (you have one jack.) (If he'd have played the river better- perhaps a min raise- which may be hard to fold to, then his odds improve still further.) Howver, if you bet the pot on the turn then he'd be paying over the odds to make the call.

As soon as made the bet I knew it was too small, guess I was just trying to keep hold of my customer!

Does anyone check raise the turn there?

I dint think a check raise would have worked in this case the guy was to passive and  would have scared him to death. Plus cant see many people betting this turn without a straight.
15  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / How would you play this river? on: February 16, 2007, 12:15:10 AM
The villain in question is very very loose but also extremely passive, he is playing 75% of his hands but only raising around 3%. When he re-raised the flop I thought he was very strong either 2pair a set, possibly 10s or a flopped straight. Had to call the min re-raise tho! After his flat call on the turn i was pretty sure he didn't have the straight so wasn't very pleased to see board pair on the river.

Was going to check call but didn't fancy having to call a large over bet, so I went for the a blocking bet when he shoved was a pretty easy lay down he was far to passive to shove anything but a FH there.

Was just wondering what other people would have done on the river and why? Do you think there was a better way of playing this hand?
