Hi All,

This will be syndicated eventually but if you fancy catching this tonight on ITV Wales you can tune it in quite quickly on any Sky box. Will get it up on Poker/YouTube soon.

From Press Release:

UK poker legend Dave “Devilfish” Ulliott is the star of a new five-part series “How to Become a Poker Millionaire” which premieres on ITV Wales this Thursday Sept. 4, 2008 at 10.35 p.m. The 30-minute shows take four losing poker players and gives them an intensive month of training by the Devilfish.

Each week one of Devilfish’s novices is eliminated and at the end of the series the winner receives a seat at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

The first show follows Devilfish as he meets the players and begins to put them through their paces. Throughout the series viewers will be treated to interviews with Devilfish’s friends — some of the top poker players in the world — who have won 34 WSOP bracelets and over $100 million dollars between them.

Ulliott, who has millions of dollars of tournament winnings under his own belt as well as WSOP and World Poker Tour titles to his name, said, “Poker players won’t have seen anythi ng like this before. It was a real boot camp for the participants and I took no prisoners. There’s laughter and tears, good poker and bad poker, and viewers will get to learn many of the tricks of the high-stakes poker trade which took me years and a lot of money to learn.”
The series is produced by John Giwa-Amu and Caradog James of Red & Black Films who are building on their seven years industry experience and BAFTA success with one of the most innovative poker TV shows ever produced.

Sky Digital Tuning Guide:

You can tune in the channel on any Sky box. Full instructions here:

i'd find Raymer's constant anecdotes very offputting if i was at that feature table.

gg and wp! Smiley

great to meet you all and looking forward to the retun leg! really thought we had it at one point but alas twas not to be...

Marq's bad beat is still fresh in my mind:

PLO Hi/Lo and Marq flopped the nut straight AND bottom set. All in, on their backs and Jen hit a runner runner flush without Marq hitting  one of his approx trillion of redraws  Shocked

Most first time players in cardrooms have no idea that implicit collusion/soft-playing their mates is cheating. Televised team poker competitions do nothing to help this. Team heads-up matches are all well and good but I think the organizers and producers have a responsibility to get the message across that poker is not usually a team game in your local cardroom.

I appreciate your concerns.

We had looked at a team event where a member from each team would compete with others in separate STTs, but it has been decided to go with a standard MTT this time around. There are large individual prizes which should discourage collusion enough and we have been assured that top tournament direction, along with a good understanding between team captains as to what is acceptable, should take collusion out of the equation.

We are dealing with the format in a responsible manner and I assure you that collusion will not be tolerated as a part of this team event. The format will reward the teams with the best individual performances, contributing to the overall winning team.

Thanks for the nice welcome guys and I look forward to enjoying and contributing to the forum in a personal capacity in the coming year.

It's spam-ish but welcome spam i'm sure considering it was giving the forum a heads up on 2 tourney's with a dozen players in each and an overlay of about $3,500 in each!

As for the Scotish and Welsh teams, there were no online qualifiers since Paddy Power Poker thought there wouldnt be the interest. If the english one can't even get a full table up to 10 minutes before the off it wouldn't be worth it. This is the first time the Grand Slam is being held and we're learning a lot as we go. Next year we can hopefully drum up enough interest for live and online qualifiers for all countries!

I work for PPP btw and I promise I won't spam the forum any further.

the 25 people are registered for Ireland, not Northern Ireland.

looks like NI and England will fill up though, only 9 needed in each for them to go ahead. a LOT of value for a 5K ticket!

Paddy Power is part of the Tribeca network, just like VC, not a skin of VC....if you get me  Cool
