1  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: DUSK TILL DAWN - HAVE YOUR SAY AT THE COURT HEARING.............. on: August 07, 2007, 06:39:58 PM
I would like to play at Dusk Till Dawn because it provides a legal and comfortable alternative to card rooms run by large corporations within a full casino environment.

While many of us will continue to play in such environments as well as DTD for many reasons such as location and the choice of game on offer, DTD will be a new (and legal) player in the poker industry. It will be interesting to see how DTD will provide for the needs of poker players specifically, as they have to ensure things are right for poker players or we will not go there. On this basis, if DTD get it right, then other card rooms will have to raise their game in terms of service, price, games and prizes and this has to be good for the industry as a whole and for the poker players.

I would definitely travel to Nottingham, albeit only occasionally for work and family reasons, if the poker product on offer was good enough for me to do so. The people involved in the project, their enthusiasm, and knowledge of poker players' needs tells me that this will be the case.

Where do you get cards with peoples pics on please?
Thanks

If you look on the APAT forum, and the pictures of all the players in Dublin, you can take a link to an American site where you can order the pictures, T shirts, mugs, mouse mats, luggage tags, playing cards etc with the pictures on. Expensive shipping costs but a fun present for someone.

Agree agree agree.

Plus the link to get to order your pictures is a superb idea!

Don't tell Debbie, but I've ordered a pack of cards with her picture on them!

She probably won't like them so I'll get it on Ebay next week.

Cheers and thanks again for a great tournament.

BINGO!!!!!!!!

One of my favourite films. Can't believe I couldn't remember it.

I owe Nix a beer.

No - can't be this film. "Bingo" is about a runaway circus dog who wears sunglasses. I doubt there were shootings or beatings in that..................

How about a free on line tournament?

Top 50 places receive a chance to pay in to the event if they want to, the other 50 places being a random draw. Reserve list would be places 51 onwards in the free tournament.

I'm in too - looking forward to it a lot.

Now, should I catch the ferry on Friday evening or risk it being on time on Saturday morning to save on the hotel costs?Huh??

p.s. if anyone goes over on Friday night and you haven't been to Dublin before, I recommend the Sporting Emporium (Anne Street I think). It was a 25 euro buy in event in superb surroundings. I think it started around 9pm. And don't forget the smoking ban is already in place - the card room was on the 2nd floor.......

For those who know us, we are pleased to announce the birth of our daughter Holly!

She was born on Sunday March 26th at 7.28am, and weighed 6lb 14oz. Both mum and baby are happy and healthy!

Many thanks for all the best wishes during the pregnancy, and a special thankyou to the management and staff of the casino for the lovely flowers that arrived yesterday!

Hope to see you all soon!

Tikay mentioned a forum that had a go at Mickey Wernick recently - anyone know which forum and when it was posted?

Blimey - I thought golf was a simple game until I read all this! I'm giving up and sticking to poker - far easier.

Only after the golf / poker day though of course.....

I was on holiday in Zante with my mates many years ago. We all hired mopeds, but unfortunately mine was the slowest bike in the history of slow bikes.

My mates had to slow down for me most of the time, but sometimes they stopped at a roadside cafe / bar and had a drink while they waited for me to catch up, even though I was on full throttle at all times. I'm not a natural on a motor bike, so I had to concentrate on just staying on the bloody thing most of the time, and more often than not, I wouldn't notice them as I trundled past as fast as my little bike could go.

Cue much hilarity for them, and "Onespeedo" for me for a fortnight.
13  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Idea re Structures and Deals.. on: March 03, 2006, 01:28:37 AM
There's been a lot of debate, especially in the last couple of days, regarding the merits of different structures, whether making deals is a good or bad thing, whether casinos should acknowledge deal making, whether casinos should dictate to players re structures and deals when it's the players money, should casinos start to give more back to the players who sustain them etc etc.

If casinos have reservations about reducing their one flagship prize in the main event of a festival, but they do realise that a lot of players want a flatter structure rather than a top heavy structure, why don't they kill more than two birds with one stone with the following idea.

Grosvenor, for example, hold numerous festivals in a year. I'm not sure exactly how many, 2 in Walsall, Blackpool, the Vic, Luton, Brighton?? Plus Cardiff now, and some others I am sure - let's say 16 festivals in total. If they adopt the flatter prize structure to appease most players, but then stipulate that if no deals are brokered they will offer the winner of the main event an invitation to a freeroll tournament against all the other Grosvenor festival main event winners. Each entrant then gets a nominal amount for turning up - (£1500 perhaps to ensure the champion can return to defend their trophy) and the winner of that tournament gets an entry to the WSOP main event plus the usual expenses paid.

While the promotional outlay is admittedly substantial, it would give more integrity to main events as deals would be unlikely, could potentially be worth millions of dollars to a tournament winner, would be great publicity for the casinos, and would generate a lot of good will between the casino and players as the casino would be seen to be giving something back to the players. It doesn't seem too much more expensive than a normal poker league prize anyway, and could be split between all the participating casinos. Also, festivals wouldn't take place at all if they didn't make money for the host casino.

Tag the freeroll event on to a festival, let's say on the Sunday before a festival starts and it should fit in quite easily with casino and player schedules. Plenty of other small items to iron out but nothing too difficult.

What do you think?

Funnily enough, something similar to this has been proposed and is being considered at the moment...

Really? Bloody hell. I never have any original ideas...

Is it Grosvenor that's considering it?

Vinni - you should really put a block on your PC to stop your girlfriend using it.   Cheesy

What a waste of time the Wales footy match was though, and my mate forgot his ID so I couldn't get in the casino either.
