At this stage, let me just post a reminder of the payouts awaiting out lucky 4 finalists... 1st Place £86,800 plus seat in Grand Final 2nd Place £46,200 3rd Place £30,800 4th Place £22,400
The early stages of this level have involved the players taking turns to pick up the blinds with preflop riases. 2 for Karim, 1 for Jim Reid, 1 for Michael, 1 for Julian...THEN...we see a flop. Karim raises to 60 from the button, Julian calls in the BB.. FLOP: check, check... TURN: check by Julian, bet of 50k from Karim, call by Julian RIVER: check and Karim checks behind. Julian shows for top pair, whilst Karim shows....A-A!
wow...definite missed value bet at this stage. Bit too cautious I would say by Karim there! Julian could hardly believe it...the way Karim played it let him out very cheap when he must've thought it very likely that he was winning... Coverage on GUKPT site suggests Michael Bolger is down to c.100Kk chips. Can you confirm?

Lord Raab has kindly allowed me access into the Press Room which the Updaters are using.
It's right next to the table. (Once you've crossed to the other side of the bar. Gone through a door which has an access code thingie, up 27 stairs, through another door, then another password-protected door, then along a corridor).
Much respect to JungleCat & Dana's legs & lungs, 4 days of this would knacker me.
Looking at the 4 remaining players, they all looked relaxed & cool, & really, any of them could take this one down. Thewy seems to have changed his Tourney game when he makes Finals these days. He sat quietly for the first few hours, but is engaging the full yo gear now.
Tikay - thanks for the words of assurance. I was wondering whether the son and heir had gone middle aged and cautious, but glad to hear the yoyo is back. Pass on our greetings at the break please Mr Thew Sir, how are you? Long time no see. Son & Heir is in good shape, worry not. He plays a bit slow early on in Finals these days, but then it's the old wham-bang-thank-you-maam stuff. He just ran an outrageous bluff with 7-2, so he's OK. And yes, he's gonna take it down. I did a TV "link" at 3.30pm this afternoon, just as the Final began, & told the viewers, there & then, that Thewy was nailed on to win, no worries. So he'd better. Actually, I fancy some sort of business may occur Heads-Up, but Thewy'll get the trophy. Or Jim, who also really deserves it. Or Karim, ditto, or Jim, who's been a revelation. But mainly Thewy, 'cos he's the man. Jim Reid told me at the Break that he thinks Thewy is the best Tourney player in Europe right now. And I think he's right. Well Tikay, there are very few people left on the planet who call me sir. We shall expect to see you again when you're next in Dublin. The Eden Restaurant still wants to know why you didn't eat your vegetables - they've kept them for you. Liz says hi and she too looks forward to the pleasure!!

Julian Thew, although short, is still plugging away. He's hovering around his starting stack for the day after a couple of uncontested pushes (if only they knew!), but he did have time to nip over a report the standard of the table. "The play on here's shocking. One guy re-raised with A-5 of hearts pre-flop and then checked when he hit his flush draw on the flop. He then bet the turn and called a re-raise when he didn't have the odds. He somehow did 50k in that one hand!" Julian Thew, although short, is still plugging away. Are we to assume that the incompetence of his fellow competitors is confusing him? I think it may be a case of nohandsyndome as Julian is saying that it's mostly survival at this point, pushing whenever he finds the opportunity. Yoyo's actually on 27,000 now, which he described as his peak, after his pre-flop all-in three times on the trot went uncontested. Again, if only they knew... OK thanks - keep up the good work
