Poker club owner is fined £3,000

The owner of a Belfast poker club, raided by police a year ago, has been fined £3,000 after being convicted of breaking betting and gambling laws.
A magistrate ordered that £2,000 seized by police should be given to charity.

Sean Murphy, who runs the Cavendish Club on Corporation Street, accepted he had broken the law but called for new regulations to allow poker in NI.

But a Crown lawyer told the city's magistrates court police hoped this was the "first of many" such prosecutions.

This is crazy the last club in n ireland to get raided was the cavendish club and they took everything tables, chips, cards and more importanly players entry fees suspiciously the cavendishs case ended yesterday with the owner gettin fined 3k and another 2k of juice being donated to charity (all players got there fee back) they also gave back blackjack and roulette tables but the club is not allowed to reopen.

Apparently if u have a bingo lincese u are legal to run poker tournies and alot of clubs opened up in n ireland with bingo/poker clubs and now the police still raid the club

Edit note .... emotive subject, but please mind the language. Thanks.
There is nothing in the law regarding bingo that allows poker to be played........ That was a bit of a red herring introduced by Yorkgate but its fiction.

Pricewise is very very streaky. When i used to punt horses i have seen him go weeks or months without a winner but suddenly he hits 5 in a row and everyone thinks he's golden. Possibly the only tipster who can make a horses price move massively if he names it. When he does get one the bookies take a hammering on it.

Thanks, I think hes due a little streak........

Anyone have any stats on Pricewise in the Post. I think he is due a big priced winner but I dont have his stats. How many tips has he given since a winner etc?
Incidentially, I was looking at subscribing to the Henry Rix tipping site. He shows a profit very year and has some big winners,,,,,,,,, but he did go 6 weeks without a winner one time and has been known to tip 3 horses in the same race....
8  Poker Forums / The Rail / DEATH OF INTERNET POKER on: April 30, 2006, 06:55:26 PM

Any opinions on this? I reckon the rake will kill internet poker, if you look at the calculation below for ONE table running 24 hours a day IT could easily generate $1 million dollars a year in RAKE.
If in an extreme example 10 players sit down in January with 100,000 each, and play every hour (I did say extreme) in Early December ...........there is no money left...?

Days   Hours   Hours per Year   Rake per Hour   Rake for ONE Table running 24 hours a day
365   24          8760                        120                                             $1,051,200.00

How many tables are there in the that world rake $2 a hand at 60 hands an hour........... ?
How much money is actually available in the world for playing poker?

WooooHooo....Claus Nielsen doubles through Roland De Wolfe !

Claus raised to 325K UTG and Roland came over him to 700K from the cutoff. Claus took it higher by pushing all in for 1.4 million. Roland called him. Yikes.

Claus had big slick, hearts. Roland had the . It's a race with Roland in the lead. The board brought the to give Claus the nut flush draw. The on the turn sealed the deal for Claus. He is rolling in the dough now baby!
