"Born from an egg on a mountain top, the punkiest Monkey that ever popped,

He knew every magic trick under the sun, to tease the pokergods and everyone can have some fun.

Monkey magic, Monkey magic, Monkey magic, Monkey magic, Monkey magic, Monkey magic ooh

What a cocky, saucy Monkey this one is. All the PokerGods were angry and they punished him.
Until he was saved by a kindly priest, and that was the start of their pilgrimage quest.

Monkey magic, Monkey magic, Monkey magic, Monkey magic,
Monkey magic, Monkey magic, Monkey magic, Monkey magic ooh!"

I think you did well to get action betting 320 into a 180 pot, however, two flat callers has to suggest at least one of them is drawing to a strong hand and you are mindful of that.

The turn is a bad card for you (which you realise) and you check/call the 300 bet.  Here the pot is 2040 your getting nearly 7/1 on your chips with approx 4/1 shot.

You got away at the right time and also had a chance of taking down a decent pot if you hit.  UL

Just one way of playing a hand that could have been played differently with possibly the same results...

Try and find more games where they call like this!

Hypothetical Question 1
First:
Think of a level of stakes that you are comfortable playin NL cash at...

Second:
You get dealt KK on a 10 seated NL Cash table and make a standard 3 x BB raise in EP. Followed by a late pos re-raise of 3 x your initial raise. You proceed to call --- a Jack High rainbow flop and your opponent puts you all in for your original buy in?

Fold or Call ? ? ?

Hypothetical Question 2
First:
Think of a level of stakes that you are UNCOMFORTABLE playin NL cash at...

Hypothetical Question 3
If everytime you got dealt KK & regardless of your opponent you tried to get all your stack in the middle pre-flop and succeeded. Would this be a + EV play ?

Thanks for your comments in advance

Ok thanks for the response...

He could consider my all-in to be a bluff with a flush/str8 draw or even K-5, a pair with a straight draw I agree.  However he has to consider other possibilities and thats where I am aiming here, he IMO has to be very strong to call this raise.

AA AK QQ etc must serously consider folding and I beleive this player is good enough to do so.  In fact his Top 2 pair could be up for consideration had it not been complimented with the 2nd nut flush draw.

When he called he was releived to actually be in front on the hand and although my outs were negated to an extent, I still had them.

Just wondering what kind of calling range can call in this position with fold equity in the equation is this a play to keep in the arsenal or banish to the book of bad plays...

Playing at Sheffield main 10k starting chips... 45 min levels blinds are now @ 200/400 ave stack 14k. I must have a tight table image (took me 3 hrs of folding carp and only showing strong hands) and I am holding 12k in chips when the following hand occurs.

I am in the BB blinds 200/400 and a serial limper/good post flop player (holding 15k) limps along with a tilting station everyone else folds to me in the BB i look down to find K 5 off and check.

Flop comes

Action to me where I put in a bet of 1k hoping to take the pot down there and then. serial limper/good post flop player flat calls and tilting station folds.

Turn

Now I have a pair of kings with an open ended straight draw and decide to check intending on a check raise if my opponent bets. I check he throws a 5k chip in the middle and says "two thousand" to which I announce "ALL-IN" and stick my 10k is in the middle. He calls immediately and shows

The river brings a red 5 which is no help and his 2 pair bust me out of the tournament.

My question here is was I just unlucky to run into this hand? What kind of range would you need to call a player check raising all - in on the turn bearing in mind previous information etc. If you had played for this long would you be pished at yourself for busting out in this instant, would you think better opportunities will come..

Basically what are YOUR thought here ?

Forward Thanks

A man takes his Rottweiler to the vet. "My dog is cross-eyed, is there anything you can do for him?" "Well," said the vet, "let's
have a look at him" So he picks the dog up and examines his eyes, then he checks his teeth. Finally, he says, "I'm going to have to put him down."

"What? Because he's cross-eyed?"

"No, because he's really heavy"

I went to the butchers the other day and I bet him 50 quid that he couldn't reach the meat off the top shelf.

He said, "No, the steaks are too high."

My question to the original poster HS was how would he feel if the board came K 5 X would he then automatically put the player on a King ...

If he does then it's not down to anything other than the negative perception of 'Pocket Jacks' rather than a read on your opponent, and in the long term you are creating a self styled massive -EV with this thinking.

BTW from an odds perspective it's a lot easier to pass if you raise 3 x BB as you are less committed to the pot when someone with a relatively shortstack calls.  His call basically committed you both to the pot...

Mmmm Difficult question Fold or Pass?? Cheesy

Personally your raise of 5 x BB is a little strong especially with the fact you dont like the hand plus you're in ep so to some it looks like a raise that doesn't want calling.  If SB is going to call he may as well push imo, however, he might have noted your tight image and decided to just push regardless of the flop and pass a little doubt over to you, especially if an Ace flops and you have anything up to KK.

The doubt is already there for you though  'They are a bogey hand' is your statement and psychologically they are beat before they are played.  The flop is Ah 5 X and you instantly think he has the ace... If the flop had been kh 5 X how would you feel then, i think you need to ask yourself.  Obviously i'm not ruling out the Ace it is a very likely possibility I just think you possibly need to address your emotional relationship with pocket J's...

To answer your question fold or pass - I would probably call...
