Abandon hope, all ye who enter here...

Just kidding. It's magic every shift.

Ah, the classic gamblers fallacy. Opening and closing boxes messes things up.

It makes absolutely no difference to the statistics of the game at all. Ludicrous.

Right ruling. If he ruled the other way, it leaves loads of avenues for chip dumping etc.

Best one i've had.

Donk - "I raise the pot"

Me - "Err... It's no-limit mate"

Donk - "Your a dealer, tell me how much is in the pot, I want to raise that much"

Me - "......................................................................What planet do you come from?"

Seriously, that's the best you have had?

Apart from your Mum, yeah Cheesy

What seriously used to annoy me as a dealer (it happened more frequently when I was sent out to provincial festivals) was players asking me not to bring the bets into the middle pre-flop in pot limit games, which is the correct way to deal in order to speed up the action and be fully alert on where the action is as soon as you've dealt the flop.

It's no good stacking it all in one big mess, not having a clue how much is in the middle, then fumbling about and looking lke a complete muppet when the first to act post-flop says "Pot..." Which I used to cring at watching so many dealers do. This was far more evident in cash games, especially Omaha where few people retain the ability to lay down a hand pre-flop.

(Yes, this means you)

I was more than proficient to work out what a pot raise was when it came around to them. It's not rocket science. 3.5 times the big blind + any flat calls. But no.. It always came out "But I need to know who's called and how much they are in for blah blah blah" Ask me then you sponge! OK, if the action gets heated and there's going to be a side pot, it's simple to just put the players bets back in front of them to ensure transparency.

Hi
Another good result for Mr Lawler , 3rd in the £500 f/o at the Vic, good for £7,000+. Well done that man, expect to see him take down a major event very soon.

An interesting situation arose at the bubble.

They are down to 11 players and 10 get paid, 10th being £1,000 so it's hand for hand. One table has been quite a lot slower then the other and some players are getting impatient. Adam has limped and is now facing an all in from a player with a very similar stack size. This is basically a decision for all his chips. He asks for a count, then studies the player for about 120-150 seconds.  At this point one of the players from the other table asks for  a clock. He is told by the tournament director, only players at the table may ask for a clock. Another 60 secs go by and now the same player goes to the table and says:

"One of you should put  a clock on him , this is out of order"

All this is going on while a player is trying to make a decision for his tournament life. Besides the etiquette side of things , should there be a penalty for this? He was taken aside and given a talking to, but should he have been made to sit out for a round ? Or a similar punishment.

You bald geek

What a fantastic read that was!

I was on 25K as a dealer in The Vic. They have to be prepared to pay at least that to get anyone out of there, if not more, and that aint going to happen.

Any monkey can deal tournaments.

High stakes cash games are where it's at.

Is that because you view the restaurant as a restaurant within a casino instead of a themed restaurant that you might attend on an evening out???

I suppose that's part of it. I guess it just wouldn't have the right kind of ambience.
Also, any restaurant that would allow you in, isn't worth eating in.

To be fair, the majority of provincial card rooms only supply dealers for the final table. God knows how someone is supposed to get up to scratch by doing a few hours a week like that.

Good points well made and indeed my comments are not made as a player but a punter....take Luton for example.....massive restaurant.....no punters......how hard can it be to fill a restaurant.........what will a proportion of the diners do after finishing their meal???

I know in London the cuisine within casinos is quite sought after, but i've always wondered why someone would want to go to a casino for a meal.

I dont know, maybe it's just me
