I was scared that someone might have made the straight on the river.

Hi Guys, was playing a bit of Limit Hold em this morning which is unusal for me as I normally play NL cash games. The following hand occured and I'm wondering what the regualr Limit players on here make of the way I played it and whether or not I got maximum value from the hand.

Cheers

I'd push everytime here.

I certainly couldn't ever pass KK preflop, if it turns out he has Aces then fair enough, you just need to take it on the chin.

Doh, sorry guys, obviously not paying attention. My head is hung in shame.

I doubt I'd be able to find a call here. You don't just need to avoid him having a jack, he could aslo have hit any one of the five cards on the board or had any pocket pair to beat you.

Having hit top pair after the flop I'd always look to define where I was in the hand. You can't flat call because theres every chance you could allow your opponent to hit an as yet unmade staight or even to hit an ace if he's holding one. You have to raise in this situation. Given the amount of chips you have any decent raise is going to pretty much commit you to the pot so the all in call was not a bad one IMO.

Not a bad play IMO, however you know that you are only likely to be called by either an overpair, in which case you are a long way behind, or by two overcards. In this case you are a small favourite but need to accept you are going to loose almost half the time you enter this particular race.

To me there is nothing wrong with using that chat box to try induce a move from an opponent. That said I don't believe you really said anything that altered the way this particular hand played out.
