I managed to build a very intricate pyramid in dublin containing around 60k in chips. I left 3k at the side as the blinds were only 200 400 and a scandi opened  the pot for 3300. He laughed as I dwelt that I would have to break my pretty pile so I just said allin instead. He couldn't call quick enough with his AQ and was horrified when I turned my aces over.... stroke or not?? you decide lol

ha ha ha ha ha  - i love it ariston!! - i gotta try me that one day.....(assuming i ever have 60k in chips and AA !)

Dirk Diggler is the lead character name from the film 'Boogie Nights'.  It's one of my fav films - it's soooo cheesey, cheeseey lines, acting, clothes, music etc... and I just love all that!....

For those who don't know it's a film about an ordinary boy (played by Mark Whalberg) being discovered by a porn film director and he wants to make the guy a star - he has a 'huge' talent you see.....they come up with the screen mane for him of 'Dirk Diggler'  He then goes on to be a star, and has a great time, money, girls, fame etc.........(forget about the bit when he becomes too big for his boots and a complete arse, a druggie etc!!......)

My quote at the bottom is a quote of his from the film.

Go hit Blockbusters...

Morning all

I'm not one of your regular posters but I do regularly read the forum and especially follow the live updates.

I too would also like to say a big 'well done' to Jen and 'keep up the good work!'  You guys put in so much hard work for everyone to enjoy so its good to see a (brunette) blonde getting some just rewards.....long way to go I know but couldn't want a better start to kick on home....

By the way, i have noticed a few threads on Iain Girdwood, aka, Tillerman - he has his own blog  http://www.tillerman.net/ on which he posts up some good links to various poker downloads on the net - recently there is a series of high stakes cash games with all the big boys playing (negranu buying in for $1m) that are certainly worth a look.  Enjoy

Good luck to all playing in the tourny and thanks to all involved for the reports and piccies.

I use a small glass 'ace of hearts' card  ah - measures about 3cm x 4cm.  It is clear glass and has the 'A' and the heart symbol etched out and is painted red - it really looks the biznizz and always gets people's attention when sitting on my chips or cards.

I carry it everywhere with me in fact so it does have a small chip and a few battle scars on it but i think that just adds to it's charm.  I have had it for about 2 years, ever since my fiancee found it in a shop somewhere and gave it to me as a present - I think she originally meant it as a token of her love for me  >:? but i think she is now quite chuffed that i have become so attached to it and at least get good use out of it rather than it just gathering dust in a drawer somewhere.

When we went to Vegas last year I couldn't find it when we got there and thought I had lost it - it really annoyed me and I was concious all week that I didn't have it and knew that there was no replacement for it.  At the end of the week (I actually made just a few bucks playing poker but donated like a mug to the table games  Embarrassed  ) when we went to re-pack the suitcase it fell out!!   Grin  stupid really how I can get so attached to it and it means so much but there you go!!  (I know, bring on all the 'you soppy old sod' replies....... Kiss

okay, gonna throw my 'genre' into the mix...

loving the 70's jazz funk rare groove sound....picture the soundtrack to one of John Holmes or early Ron Jeremy masterpieces, or to those unfamiliar with such screen legends, say a Starsky and Hutch movie!!...I'm talking wah wah, hammond organ, way out guitar solo's and downright dirty beats.

to list a few, Bobbi Humphrey, Johhny Hammond, Donald Byrd, Roy Ayres, Mike Longo, Bob James....

quality cheesey tunes - get surfing!....

Also loving a bit of hardcore gansta rap-loving the lyrics, old skool hip hop, as well as one or two modern day 'bands of the moment'....and some main stream stuff too.....basically I like a bit of eveything and the mp3 player is loaded up with about as diverse a mix as you could ever want.

Not spamming here but for music lovers who like to download without file sharing try this:

http://www.allofmp3.com/

Great site - you do pay for the tunes but they are so cheap it's ridiculous - check it out.  I downloaded the whole Coldplay X & Y album last night for my better half for $1.76! - how cheap is that!  No problem with the downloads, select the quality and format you want and you get exactly what you expect - not like some of the file sharing sites.....thoroughly recommend it.  little tip if you do sign up - download the 'explorer' tool - so much easier to dowload multiple tracks.

Dirk  Cool

Kev, thanks for that info - I had no idea!  keep us informed of any developments...

I'll get word to Dave - I know he plays a couple of bigish games round Colchester (or at least used to, not sure if they still exist) so he may well know something about it anyway, but would be good to all get down there for a game and a beer if it gets off the ground.

I dont think your comments were offencive (and i don't think Dave would take them as such either) and fully understandable that most people would be rooting for Rob.  Nout wrong with a bit of healthy support for your man.  Anyways, all fair and all that....
