Thanks for yourinvolvement Betfair Poker Guy.

It's now 4pm on Monday and I've not heard anything yet!

I will wait for an email as promised, although based on the casual attitude of their customer service call centre, I won't get my hopes up
2  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: **$55 WSOPE Satellite entry competition** on: September 06, 2009, 07:21:13 PM
I have just played a $55 satellite to the $510 WSOPE main event Satellite whuich started at 18.30.

10 players were guaranteed to win a seat to the $510 satellite and at 18.10, with only 12 players left, a 10 minute break started. (First crazy action)

The last person was knocked out at 18.31 and the 10 of us who qualified were not put into the tournament. (Second crazy action)

I then checked my account to see if they had added $510 - Nope, not a dime

I then phoned Betfair only to be told that we were too late to play the tourney (by 1minute) and that Betfair would put us in another satellite of their choice.

When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told that none were working today. When I asked the representative  if she would pass on my complaint, she replied that I would have to email Betfair. Crazy crazy crazy!

This follows my experience last year, when someone managed to hack into my Betfair account after multiple password attempts and got access to the substantial funds I had left in my account. The hacker then lost all my funds playing blackjack on Betfair.

When I contacted Betfair about it, they said that it was someone in Paris and that it was just hard luck - they would not reimburse me, even though the money had been squandered on the Betfair site.

I expected more from a big company like Betfair! I have not played on Betfair since, however I want to play the WSOPE again. Now I have been burned again. Marvellous!

It will be interesting to see if anyone from Betfair contacts me!

I started my own thread, so that only those who wanted to read it would, but it got moved and I was told that I am not allowed my own thread.

Sorry to those who are not interested.

I played today, Day 1, Table 1 Seat 1.

It is the first break. This year they increased the starting stack from 10,000 to 20,000, but missed out the 25 - 50 blind and started with 50 - 100.

There are only 1287 players on day 1. SO FAR THERE ARE APPROX 5000 PLAYERS REGISTERED.

My table is very frisky, and every hand is raised pre flop by about 600 and around 50% are reraised.

Every time I tried to limp in, I had to pass the raise / reraise.

2 memorable hands.

The first was about 90 minutes in and I was down to 14,000 after a bad river. I raised to 400 pre flop with

2 callers.

The flop was

I bet 800, he called.

The turn was

He bet 1200 & I called.

The River was

Now he bet 5500.

It seemed like a huge over bet.

I reflected for about 3 minutes and called - he mucked before I turned over my cards.

The other hand, I had pocket queens and raised to 400. The player to my left raised to 1500 & the button reraised to 3000. I passed, but the player to my left called with .

The flop was

check, bet pass. The button had pocket kings!!! Lucky escape!

Next break in 2 hours.

I have 22,500 chips

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B R E A K - BLINDS UP - 100 - 200
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A terrible start when I returned from the break.

I started with 22,500 and 40 mins in, I had 10c 10d & raised the 200 big blind to 700. 2 calls. (both blinds)

The flop was Two Diamonds three diamonds 10s

Check, check, - I bet 1500 - 1 call

Turn was

He bet 2500, I raised to 7000

call.

River was

He moved all in for 11,000. I eventually folded leaving me with 13,000. He showed me .

Then I built my stack to 32,000.

I was about to leave with 2 mins of the session to go, but I was the big blind.

3 limpers & I had . I didn't want to get involved on the last hand, so I checked.

Flop 10s.

I bet 800 - 1 caller.

Turn Ah

I bet 1000, he raised to 2000 - I called.

River

I checked, he bet 6000

I eventually called, & he showed As 5S

Down to 23,500 ugh!!!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B R E A K - BLINDS UP - 200 - 400
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the 2nd break I had 23,500. After just 2 hands, blinds were 200 - 400 & I raised to 1200 with As and the lunatic on the table called.

The flop was Ah 4C .

Before I could do anything, he moved all in out of turn for 9000.

I called & he turned over pocket 4's UGH!!

His hand stood up and he didn't stop talking for the next hour.

I then called an 800 raise on my big blind with .

The Flop was two spades

He bet 1000, I flat called.

The Turn was

He bet 1500 - I called

The River was

He bet 1500 & I raised to 4000 - He called & turned over As .

Then Claude Cohen raised my 400 big blind to 1200.

Again I had . I called

Flop was

Claude bet 1500 & I called

Turn was

Claude bet 2000 - I called

River was

Claude bet 2500 & I raised to 6000.

He called & mucked when I showed my house.

Since then the lunatic got knocked out and I have built steadily.

At the dinner break, I have 40,500

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B R E A K - BLINDS UP - 200 - 400 + 50 ANTE
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bad session!

Someone raised I I reraised 10,000 with pocket Queens.

He eventually called.

Flop was K, A 2

He moved all in for 8,000 more. I passed & he showed A, 2

MARVELLOUS.

Down to 33,000

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B R E A K - BLINDS UP - 300 - 600 + 50 ANTE
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Came back from the break, to find that our table had broken. I was moved to table 67 - seat 8.

A terrible start! first bhand at the new table, I had Ah and raised to 2400. 2 callers.

Flop Two Clubs

I bet 4000. - 1 caller

Turn was three clubs - he checked - I checked & took the free card.

River was a

I tried to buy the pot with a bet of 7000. He raised all in for 12,000 more - I passed & was down to 19,000.

I built my stack back up to 30,000 & then a few key hands:

Hand 1:  I limped in with - 3 other limpers.

Flop Two Clubs

I checked top 2 pair, but no one bet.

Turn - - I bet 2000 - 1 caller

River

I bet 2500 and the other player threw in  a 5000 chip. I turned over my top 2 pair & he exclaimed "I said raise".

A manager was called & after much discussion, he allowed the raise.

I didn't know if it was a move, but as the raise was only 2500 more, I called. He showed As .

I was tired and hadn't even seen the flush. Anyway, I played the hand very badly & got what I deserved! Back down to 23,000.

Hand 2: I limped in with 10h. There were 4 other limpers

Flop was

utg bet 3500 & the other 3 called, so even though I didn't have a diamond, I called 3500 in the hope of winning a pot of over 20,000.

Turn was 10s - everyone checked!

River was - I bet 5000 - 1 caller.

I showed my straight & he mucked. Up to 40,000.

Hand 3: I was on the big Blind with Two Diamonds . The button raised to 1200 - I called.

Flop 10d

I tried to buy the pot with a bet of 2500 - the button called (oops!)

The turn was - I bet 6000.

After what seemed like 20 minutes (but was probably 2 minutes), he passed.

42,000 chips at the break

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B R E A K - BLINDS UP - 400 - 800 + 50 ANTE
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2am - We have been playing for 14 hours and this is the last 2 hour session.

A good session for me.

3 key hands.

I limped in with . The button (a young Scandi) raised to 2400.

The big blind nearly passed - thought for ages and then called.

I saw an opportunity and on instinct reraised to 7,400.

They both passed.

2. I raised to 2400 with As 10h

5 callers (wow - nice pot)

Flop was everyone checked

Turn was two spades. I nearly bet it, but decided to take a free card to hit the 4th spade.

River was . There was a staright on the board, so I bet 4000 to try to get a couple to pass - they all passed!

3. Last hand of the night. I was up to 75,000 exactly. I was on the big blind.

The button raised to 2400. I looked down at pocket Jacks & raised to 4800. The button (who had just come to our table) reraised a further 20,000. It was the last hand of the night, so I put it down.

450 players left (from 1287 started) Average chips are 57,000

13  Poker Forums / The Rail / Down to the felt at the World Heads Up in Barcelona on: May 23, 2007, 01:16:05 AM
They had a live draw yesterday in Barcelona for the 888.com World Heads Up!

There seemed to be a lot of Americans missing (Hellmouth, Chan, Negreanu, Greg Raymer), but a healthy contingent of English including John Kabbaj, Dave Colclough, Mark Banin,Tony Chapman, Marc Goodwin, Paul Jackson, Barny Boatman, Mickey Wernick, Devilfish, Simon Nowab, Paul Zimbler, Dan Carter, Roy Brindley, Richard Gryko, Steven Pearce, plus the American imports Brian Johnson, and Jeff Buffenbarger.

From Europe, a few to mention were Pascal Perrault, Bruno Fitusi. Paul Testud, Michael Keiner, Bengt Sonnert, Tim Gillig, Irishman John Quinn and a load of Spanniards. Surprisingly, there wasn't such a strong showing from Scandinavia this year. The event was limited to 128 players and was oversubscibed. I played the satellite, which produced 20 seats, but I overplayed my AK with 25 players left and so, having previously reserved my seat, had to buy my way in.

Anyway 2600 Euro's later I was sitting in the casino, listening to the names being drawn & Heard 'Jac Arama plays ..... Barny Boatman'. I wasn't unhappy with the draw, as at least I have played Barny before and have an idea of his game. I also thought it was an interesting match up and was looking forward to an open game.

We started with 20,000 chips each and blinds at 100, 200. Barny surprised me by firing on all cylinders from the first hand. He was raising most hands pre flop and took away my gameplan completely. I had intended to be the aggressor, and found myself calling raises with the likes of  , etc, only to miss the flop and have to pass when Barny bet out again on the flop. 3 times I called his bets to the River, with top pair, only to find that he had me out kicked. Not only was he being agressive, he was also hitting flops.

In a very short time Barny had a 2 to 1 chip lead. I continued to miss flops and Barny took full advantage.

It got worse! 4 times I tried to steal on the River, only for Barny to call with part of it. The worst of these was when I had    , with blinds at 300, 600. Barny mini raised to 1400 pre flop and I flat called. the flop was 10c two hearts, Barny bet 1,000, I called. The Turn was a 5S, Barny checked, I checked and the River was an off suit 6. Barny checked and I bet 3,000. Barny who now had over 30,000 chips said "I'm just calling to see what you're playing with" and turned over  , to win with King high.

When we had a break after 2 hours, I had less than 5,000 chips and Barny had over 35,000. I pretty much accepted that save a miracle, the match was his. We sat down again and I got anted away until I had 3,600 chips, to Barny's 36,400. Then I had a ray of hope when Barny limped in, and I found pocket Kings. I doubled the blinds from 600 to 1200, but he passed. I then managed to climb up to 7,000 chips, when Barney limped in from the small blind. I had  , and checked. The flop was  giving me 2 pairs. Barney bet out 1,000 and I moved all in for 6,000 more. He called and turned over  . The turn was  and a harmless  on the River took me back to 14,000. (to Barny's 26,000)

The game started to change momentum and I climbed back to even, when a pivotal hand occured. Blinds were 400, 800 and Barny raised preflop to 1700. I found pocket Jacks and flat called with the intention of moving all in if the flop didn't produce an Ace, King or Queen. As it happened the flop was  two hearts, three clubs, Perfect! But Barney came out betting 2,000. I was about to come over the top, all in, but something about the bet worried me. Had I walked into trip 4's???. I flat called. The turn was  and Barny now bet 4000 and I said "I let you hit your card and turned over the pocket Jacks. "What are you talking about" said Barny and turned over  , . Wow! what an escape I had made.

I still had over 16,000 chips and thought, "he's been raising my big blind with that garbage - Okay the old Jac Arama is back!". It gave me a new lease of life and the next time Barny raised 3,000, I came over the top and he folded. The previous hand when he flopped the straight, had clearly affected him. By the dinner break, after 3 hours play, I was up to 23,500. Barny wanted to miss dinner and finish the match, but I wanted a break - especially as he had objected to stopping for dinner and I wanted him to dwell on the hand I got away from. Anyway, I find it hard enough to pass a hand pr flop, yet alone the sumptuous buffet they serve here  Grin!

When I returned from dinner, it lasted 4 hands. With blinds at 500, 1000, he raised the first hand pre flop and I came over the top - he passed. the 2nd hand he raised raised pre flop and I moved all in - he passed. The third hand he raised and I called with   , and the flop came  Two Diamonds. I checked and Barney bet the minimum, 1000. I called. the turn was a three clubs and I bet out 3000 and Barny passed, giving me 30,000 to his 10,000 (Approximately). Then Barny raised 1500 pre flop and I found  , and moved all in. Clearly frustrated that my new aggressive style had turned the tide, he decided to make a stand and called for his last 8,000 or so chips with  , . Fortunately my hand stood up and I was through! It goes to show that it's never over till it's over!

I can also report a few reults including three shockers. Dave Colclough, who played newcomer Eric Thewalt, went out with pocket    on a turn of  Two Clubsthree clubs, giving Dave the straight and Eric a flush. Also, Paul Jackson, who has an excellent record in this event, went out to a young spaniard with an impossibly long name when Paul moved all in with AJ diamonds, and walked into pocket Kings. The other surprise was 'Mr Cool' Marc Goodwin, previous finalist in the World Heads Up, who went out to a young Swede, Olef Sundin. Mark had pocket 8's which were crushed when Olef's pocket 9's hit a 9 on the flop.

With 64 of the first round matches played, Others players that I know are through to round 2 are: Devilfish, John Quinn, Dan Carter, Michael Keiner, Pascal Perrault. Roy Brindley had a good chip lead when I left the casino.

Next, I play on Thursday against Olef Sundin, who beat Marc Goodwin. Although there are lively cash games and well run smaller tournaments.

If people are interested, I will report on tomorrows results. Respond here and let me know!
