What is the fascination about a great "hotel suite" ?
Poker room is far more important, as thats where you spend most of your time.
No need to put the words "hotel" and "suite" in inverted commas. They're not foreign words, nor do they make some kind of alien made-up phrase when written in sequence. In fact many people around the world have enjoyed staying in a hotel suite. I'm using my own inverted commas here purely for reasons of grammar and legibility. I primarily go to Vegas to play poker, but there happen to be lots of other attractions in the city. Including thousands of spectacular hotel rooms. If you prefer to sleep in Circus Circus or the Imperial Palace and eat at McDonalds all day (as long as you're able to play poker), then that's up to you, but I don't think there's any shame in appreciating some small luxuries in life. As it happens Las Vegas is one of the places where you can get one of the best rooms (or, if I may tentatively use the aforementioned ridiculed word 'suite' here) for the lowest amount of money in the world. And I would rather pay 20 or 30 pounds a night extra for my cotton covered duvet, 42 inch plasma screen and power shower with built-in radio. But that's just my personal choice.

For a little bit more cash you can get a much nicer hotel on strip. I flew direct with Virgin in January, and got 4 nights at the Signature at MGM Grand for 650. Fantastic hotel suites and pretty good value.

Was there a few weeks ago, and can highly recommend the Venetian. Very comfortable card room (height adjustable chairs!), well run, and excellent value tourneys.
Played a number of the 12 noon $150s. 7000 chips and 30 minute levels if I remember correctly.

In Economy you surely can't beat Virgin. Direct flights, more movies than you can imagine, sexy cartoon lady drawn on the side of the plane. Haven't flown Maxjet, but they seem very reasonable for business class, albeit on older planes.

Don't mind posting here, because unfortunatly the airlines are well aware of the situation by now and have hastily recalculated the fares. Now coming in at about 4k. But I've already paid and been ticketed, so I should (in theory) be safe. I don't need to do it all in one go. Planning to spend two weeks in Oz, and might try to change the date of the Rome to New York flights to make that into a second holiday. Unfortunately can't turn a connection in Singapore into a stopover. This would cause a re-pricing and I expect I would be met with something like "That's no problem sir, that will be an extra £2500".

Anorakky as it is, it's really worth keeping an eye on travel prices and doing regular itinerary searches. I was sure my next holilday was going to be in Vegas, and I think it still is, but thanks to a flight-pricing cockup I'm now going the really really really long way round.
Last weekend I managed to book this flight: Sri Lanka - Singapore - Sydney - Singapore - London - Rome - New York. All for 580 pounds in BUSINESS CLASS! But I'm still planning to go to Vegas as the final destination, so I'll have to pay for additional flights from London to Sri Lanka, New York to Las Vegas, and Las Vegas Home. Obviously I'll have no money left to play with once I get to Vegas, but I'll have an awful lot of airmiles.

£10 per person per day in clubs, £5 per person per day in pubs It just makes me despair. I'm not a high stakes player by any stretch of the imagination, but £10 freezeouts aren't even worth the trip to a poker club. The law is woefully out of touch with reality. How much can you stake in a bingo club in a day? More than 10 pounds I would think. And that's a game of pure skill. (Although thinking about it there may be bingo analogy of table selection... I suppose it's +EV to pick a club where the other players are too slow, aged and forgetful to follow the pace of the bingo caller)

Sky Poker are trying to find a balance between running a solid, professional online/interactive game and presenting an entertaining TV show. One of the reasons they don't get to the end of the tournament and see the winner is that play usually tightens up on Final Table, and, after three hours of live commentary on their feet, the presenters are cream-crackered. Tikay has to be given oxygen and a rub down between hand reviews. If the game hasn't finished by 0020 the producers have to take a toiugh decision whether to plough on or call it a day. The channel hopes to hit the right balance between speed of blinds and getting all the heads up action on screen as soon as they can. Please keep your comments coming to Blonde as the 'suits' are definitely listening!
Why not start the tournament earlier then? Surely there's no reason for the tournament to start exactly the same time as the TV show? It also gives you more hands to choose from before you even start.

One small note about the fermi Paradox, his reasoning was based on OUR communication methods, and our accomplishments as a race to date, hence a simple solution to why have we not found anyone, who says that if a race if beings on another planet uses a similar communication system to us, and if they dont how can they find any signal we put out there?
Even a different race on another planet in our Universe would have to operate under the same laws of physics. If they're not using the electromagnetic spectrum as a means of communication, what are they using? And any other advanced society would produce a radio signature from their electronics / machinery, even if they're using another form of communication.

This reminds me of a debate that i have had many times with friends, UFO's are one thing, yes UFO's exist, there are lots of Unidentified Flying objects to peple that donk know what they are looking at, its that simple.
Now on the other hand who can honestly say that ther is no life on other planets and we are alone in the universe?
Given the planetary population of the known universe its almost impossible that we are alone here, the odds are that there are many other worlds that are inhabited we just dont know where they are. Take for example the people of the UK, before anyone crossed the water to visit us, did we believe there was life beyond our shores? probably not only because pepole at the time were too narrow minded to accept that possibility. I believe whe have that same narrow mindeedness enmass across our very own very small planet.
Yes, but what about the Fermi Paradox?

If I may offer a few candidates:
Lisa: Oedipus is the one who killed his father and married his mother Homer: Arrrgh! Who paid for THAT wedding?
Homer: Alcohol the cause of and solution to all of life's problems
Homer: Trying is the first step towards failure
Moe: Yeah, so last night I was closing up the bar, when some young punk comes in and tries to stick me up. Well, it coulda been a real ugly situation, but I managed to shoot him in the spine. Yeah, I guess the next place he robs better have a ramp! Ha ha!
