has anyone done wine country? napa valley etc?

Hi Red, we have just come back from doing a 3 week road trip around that area and it was a great trip. Our route was:

LA, Vegas, Yosemite, Napa, San Fran, Pismo Beach, LA

The highlight for me was Napa if you like wine and good food then this is the place to head for. Yosemite was also good but most of the high crossing points were still closed as according to the locals they have had a great winter for snow. Been to San Fran many times and it is one of my favourite US cities to visit and has plenty to keep you occupied if its your first time (Alcatraz, cable cars, Fishermans Wharf and just general sight seeing). Pismo was very relaxing we just chilled and took it easy before the madness of LA. Like Longy we went from SF to LA down the route 1 coastal road (including a mad diversion after a rock slide) which was an experience in itself.

Sounds great. I'm excited.   dad dont dance

Info on accommodation costs appreciated

We stayed mostly at Best Western Hotels (not the best but a decent standard that wont break the bank) as I get a decent discount rate through work. I think they can be had for around $120 a night (plus tax) midweek if you book in advance (more if you turn up on the day) going up if you hit them on a weekend (probably $50 more).

Hi mate, it looks like the next DSE at the V is the end of October so you may miss out.

http://www.venetian.com/Pages.aspx?id=2451

The daily lunch time tourney at the V is one of the best on the strip ($150 but $340 on Saturday) and should be tried at least once in my opinion.

http://www.venetian.com/uploadedFiles/The_Venetian/Gaming/TournSch1008.pdf

Most of the tourneys under $100 are not the best structure and quickly turn into a crap shoot but a few to consider are CP at 12pm, Mirage at 7pm and the Sahara (only if your up that way) at 7pm.

Most casinos on the strip that have a poker room will spread 1/2 my favourite 3 would be V, PH and MGM as a rule you seem to get decent action in all 3.

Enjoy!

Not the best recommendation from Girgy if you must drink Tooheys go the Extra Dry better still get into the Hahn Super Dry (and avoid VB at all costs).

Even a life long Forest fan has to say that Derby were way overpriced to win the tie Weds night. Not even I could resist a small bet on them when I saw the price (although the money feels dirty and I would rather have lost the lot). Smiley

Im sure the Badgers would let them play it at Old Trafford and beat them there! Smiley

Another home draw which is always a bonus!

Except if it's against Man Utd in the third round.

Well played the Badgers (my home town) think this is their first time in the second round proper! I remember them getting close a few years back but loosing to Exeter in the first round. Just need a nice easy tie in the next round and then Man Utd in the 3rd! Smiley

Done by a nose!!!! had Bauer which has followed in Purple Moons footsteps last year. I am cursed to always finish second in this race thats the last 3 years. O'Briens 3 went off far to fast and paid the price in the later half of the race.
