Also, check the following site for pretty much everything you need to know about the EeePC...

The link posted by Bongo is where I found mine, I got it from MicroDirect.  Its the 4G 701 you'll be wanting, not the 2G or 4G Surf.

I was also interested in an Asus EEE but the screen res. put me off. Think I'll wait till I can get at least native 800x600. What's the Tool you mention EyeballKid?

 - From Wikipedia "At CES 2008, Asus confirmed that new models would be released in Q2 with new features which would include WiMax, and the option of a 7, 8, or 9 inch displays.[35]"

Hopefully the new models will have a better native resolution. Great idea though - they're tiny.

The tool I mentioned is the ASUS EeePC Utility, that ships with the machine.  It lets you switch from 800x480 to 800x600 via the Windows taskbar.  When running Mansion or Full Tilt, I always go into 800x600.

I'm very interested in this. How difficult to install XP?

How well does it run with XP?

What's battery life like?

Can you get a car-charger/adapter?

Please.

The difficulty with installing XP is down to the fact that the EeePC only has 4Gb disk space, of which a standard XP install would take up about 3Gb worth.  There is a free tool called nLite that allows you to remove all the bits of XP you don't need, so that it takes up less space.  It works a treat, but it took me 3 attempts before I had an install that had everything I needed!  So a bit of time and effort was required.  It might well be worth waiting on the new versions with XP pre-installed.  Particularly as you also need an external CD/DVD drive to do the install in the first place (I picked a cheap one up for £30).

It runs fantastically well with XP, I've had no problems whatsoever.  I upgraded the RAM to 2Gb from the standard 512Mb, only about £40 from Play.com.

Battery life is about 3 and a half hours with Wi-Fi enabled.

You can get car chargers and accessories from Clove Technologies, haven't used them myself, but I hear they are good.

I've recently bought an ASUS EeePC, has a 7" screen and costs around £250.  I installed XP on it though, as it ships with a flavour of Linux, which is no good for poker.  I play Mansion and Full Tilt on it just fine, using the tool to change the resolution to 800x600 (default is 800x480).  I can't recommend it highly enough, but the problem is getting XP on in the first place, it's a bit of a pain.

I was able to play the Gala Java client on the default Linux OS though, via the web browser.

The guy is brainless, I have no respect whatsoever for him.  Someone described his as a degenerate gambler on here, very true.  Wish him no luck at all, he just doesn't deserve it.
