1  Poker Forums / The Rail / those hidden gems on: June 26, 2009, 02:06:28 AM
We all know that online there are numerous satellites for great live UK events. Blue Square hosts the GUKPT sats but what about the online satellites for smaller buy in tornmys in the region of £250 - £300?

These type of satellites are fantastic as they offer a good chance to entert a live torny for little outlay.

The problem with online satellites for big buy in events suchas the GUKPT is that there will normally be only about a 1 in 15 chance of winning a seat whereas lower buy ins for cheaper tornys have a much higher chance

The problem is that these gems are very hard to discover. We all know Blonde hosts the monthly satellite for Equal chance live torny and DTD hold their one for their monthly £300 but it is hard to find a website that brings them all together for people to choose.

Last year, the Rendevous in Brighton had an online sat for their £500 through Full Tilt and even Mint casino in Southend had a satellite for their £350 buy in.

As these smaller event get such low publicity they are always very poorly turned out for example, take the monthly Blonde satellite for Equal Chance..... WHAT A WASTE!!!! I won a seat through this route and when i played, i told people i won a satellite and they didnt believe me because they didnt know online sats existed for it (and these are people that always play the £350 at equal chance. It could be one of the best sats around but is very much neglected in terms of publicity

It is a shame that these onlinbe sats for lower buy in live tornys are so hard to find as they offer so much value for money, much more so that BSQ's gukpt

Could we get a thread / new area going to post these typr of events?

just a though

Equal chance monthly £200 is a great torny but the satellite announcements are very bad indeed. I clicked the link for equal chance on the home page to informed of when the sats are for last year!

The poker lobby dosnt reveal anything and so its a bit of a mystery as to when the sats are for the equal chance live event

Can anyone help

thanks

Visited the cub for first time on saturday after qualifing for the £300 online. Took me 4 hours from kent by donkey (ran out of carrots on the M1) looking for a couple of lines to sum up what i thought of DTD club but can sum it up in one word - WOW.

Anyway, i cashed and with 32 players left i shoved with AK spade and got called by AK hearts and he conjured up a flush Sad but i cashed anyhow.

So anyway, back to the title - what a shame that there is no DTD in the south. I know theres prob 1001 legal and financial reasons for this but what a fantastic venue it would be to have one down here in London.

Well done DTD, great venue, great torny, very well run and hope to be at the next one

2-4 cash game both with approx $400

I raise to 12 from mid position with JJ. Button reraises to 48. i have no real read on the guy but heres the problem

I dont want to build a massive pot preflop with JJ out of position, The button could have QQ KK AA or could take it off me on the flop. JJ does not justify a pot of the one that could potentially build here

I feel i need to flop a set to continue and so my JJ might just as well be 22 here. Ive only put 12 into the pot and on a low flop, i might get married to the hand and lose my whole stack. I decided that although the button could have trash, he could probably take my chips. I folded to his raise and waited for a better spot.

Could i, should i have played this different.

A reraise preflop by me would bring in pot commitment issues on the flop
A flat call would prob be a mistake

What would u do?
