I have a group of 5 mates, all of us play in a fortnightly game, half of us have played in a poker room and none of us will play in a casino! There are a number of reasons, not to do with being worried about gambling on other games but quite simply because casinos just dont have the draw for a large poker venue.
DTD will have hundreds of poker players, coming from all over the country (i live in london)..I'll stay in a hotel and dine in local restaurants too...there wont be just one or two tables dedicated to poker (as casinos do) but numerous offering all the games people wont... this means we'll have a better chance of playing the game we want to play and not being forced to play a higher stakes/different format to our preference.
90% of poker players arent interested in casinos - we're not gambling in the long run... a point missed by some previous court cases, and we wont be detracting from standard casino revenue! Indeed, the revenue for casinos from poker tables is minimal.
Lastly, the additional tourist traffic from one of the best poker venues in the world will be a massive benefit to the local community and even the casinos!
