1  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Poker Room Supervisor Required.... on: March 24, 2009, 06:39:25 PM
plus i have no experiance as a supervisor though i could do the job with my eyes closed and would love to do it

not bubble bursting or anything here, but this is a widely held misconception amongst poker players. being involved in the operation of a cardroom and making it run properly for the players is alot different to what players think it is.

i know my expectations were shattered when i went from player to dealer.

cards face down and over the line are dead and waiting to be mucked

i had an incident on an aqqxx board one night 1 player tables aq the other player flashes his cards at his mate to the left then places his cards face down over the line so i mucked them. the guy claimed to have aq after his cards were mucked which was verified by 4 players at the table (including independants) but he had killed his hand.

if in doubt, table your hands instead of mucking or declaring, that way its the dealers responsibility a responsibility you forfeit when you declare a loss or interfere with the dealers job

the ruling was right imho as the dealer had not mucked the cards - which the dealer should have done to prevent the grab and flip. however under strict play rules both hands would have to be tabled on request, A high should win it

i personally think that at the low and high end of the stakes it will make little impact, properly built bakrolls are recession proof in their own rights, you may need to withdraw more if your living off your poker BR but apart from that things are ok.

i do think that it will affect the live scene, especially where it is obvious that the intention is to grab as much money off you as possible, ive got a personal pet hatred for casinos that give 30+ minute breaks so you get bored and start spinning.

ive still got my faith in DTD (cause i love my job) and other poker-only ventures, although i do wonder how the current state of things will affect issues such as rake% in new clubs like fox, i have every intention of playing there when it opens and hope thatour shodidily run economy doesnt mean ill be paying 2bb's for a cup of coffee lol

the other good thing about havinga  poker bankroll is that if your half way smart, you will be hoarding it in the stronger currency relative to the £ and will be keeping it there, £1k used to be $2k... its £1.5k to $2k now, so im holding as much as i can In USD till i need it Smiley

usually multiple chips count as a raise under tda rules, especially where the amount is larger.

although i personally think any table with people throwing chis in like that isnt under the control of the dealer and many slappings should be ssued

its something i was considering before the horrific run ive had over the last few months, how did you guys manage it? what motivated you to dedicate your working hours to grinding out bb's?

i did manage to go semi, more than doubling my monthly wage from my far to freaking nice job for a while, but that dream got killed by rising costs and a bad run (losing 7/10 flopped nut flushes, losing 9/10 flopped top sets etc)

is ther any way to try and bounce back without just throwing more cash into this pit? or should i just go and hide my head under a pillow?

Could someone plz tell me how to play crazy pineapple cheers

Also how does double flop HE work (expects sarcatic reply's to this question) ?

CP plays same as HE except you get 3 cards and choose 1 to discard face down immediately before the turn is dealt

double HE same as normal HE but 2 boards are dealt at the same time and you play both boards. after betting is complete the winner on each board takes 1/2 the pot. you see showdowns a lot more than in normal HE

i thought double HE was 2' flops, best hand possible, in the event of 2 equal straight flushes or flushes use bridge order...

6 Y omaha is fun
