1  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: How many .............. on: April 20, 2006, 11:35:24 PM
Have been playing 2/4 and 4/8 limit at a place for about the last five or six weeks or so - in that time seen 3 royal flushes... Yes, I know I'm playing too much, but still... Only other one I remember seeing was mine, online - sadly in an STT, so no bonus for me. Didn't even win many chips with it. I think they're over-rated.

Also lost last night at a home game when all-in with a straight flush. Lost to 5 of a kind (4's). Possibly serves me right for playing what I believe is called 'baseball'...

Yes, please do - though by an unfortunate coincidence, I may not actually be around then. But let me know and I'll let you know...

Googlististically speaking, I am (among other things) 'smaller than normal' and 'expected to take around two weeks'.

Toblerones are good - but I do have issues with them dating back to childhood, when I suffered a string of injuries to the roof of my mouth at the hands of their dangerously triangular nature. These days - Dairy Milk with bits of Crunchie in it, whatever it's called. Dairy Milk Crunchie, possibly. When they bring out a Dairy Milk with bits of kebab in it, I imagine that will go straight to the top of the tree.

Glad you enjoyed my horrible misplaying of JJ, wormster. Shame you didn't make more of it. Enjoy your winnings... Cheers to all who put up with the apparently endless hassle of organising the tournament - was great. Apart from the JJ.

Notice from TonyG's post in the other thread that we needed to get 100 runners by the end of yesterday to increase the prize pool to $10k... Have we been slightly done here? I for one would have signed up yesterday - if they'd been at work and allowed me to do so. Seems to me that Blonde has provided Titan with the 100 new players that it wanted, but that it's mysterious working patterns may have conveniently worked in its favour, according to the rules. Under the spirit of the deal, don't you think they should still stump up the $10k..?
9  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: How much have you made/lost in the last year? on: September 19, 2005, 11:04:09 PM
Kind of related to this original question - would be interested to know how people keep track, or don't, of their wins/losses...

When I started playing regularly (ie a lot) online a year ago or so, I kept records on pokercharts.com. Interesting for a while and it taught me something about win rates in different games. That was great when I was winning - problem was that I started getting a bit too obsessed about the minutiae of my results. I'd made about $3000 in 3 months - but then dumped $2000 back in the next two months. I was playing horribly, and I think that having that detailed focus on my results made me tilt even worse.

I've now given up keeping these results - I just know how much I've got in each account, and have short-term targets to get my balance through $800 or $1000 or whatever. That seems to give me a positive goal but doesn't make me worry too much about my hourly rate and other such nonsense. Seems to work for me. Anyone else..?

Just to add my congrats to Ironside, and to echo all those comments about it being a great tournie - my first real Blonde experience, and I really enjoyed it - a lot of great (and very amusing) people to play with. Looking forward to the next one already...

(Moskvich)

Yes please, a password would be just what I'm looking for. (Am "Moskvich" on Crypto). Cheers.
12  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Who has the best SNG structure? on: September 06, 2005, 01:55:32 AM
At the other end of the scale... Just played an "ultra" SNG on Pacific - 10 seats, blinds go up every 2 minutes... I finished second - the whole things took the grand total of 15 minutes. Good for a laugh though (and there's no time for anyone to swear at you in the chat box)

Hi all -

Would be up for this non-smoking-poker forum thingy... and was also thinking about going from Monday 12th (as it's my birthday on 9/11). So if you're up for it, Kev, or anyone else, I reckon that would be good. Having this forum nagging me when I sit at my PC should help stop that ashtray from filling up without me noticing...
14  Poker Forums / The Rail / SNG standards vs buy-ins on: July 29, 2005, 03:44:27 AM
Hi all - Read something the other day on here (sorry, can't remember exactly where), where someone was suggesting that the standard of play in SNGs wasn't relative to the buy-in level - I think the idea was that relatively decent players might congregate around the 10 level, for example, but that buy-ins above that might attract more than their fair share of gamblers, and actually be easier to beat.

Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this, or on SNG playing standards on different sites? I've mostly only played Crypto SNGs, which at the 10 level at least seem to me to have become quite a bit tougher in recent months. (Maybe it's just me....) Only played a few on Pacific, which seem at first glance substantially easier.

All thoughts much appreciated. Cheers.
