1  Poker Forums / Live Tournament Updates / Re: DTD June Deepstack £100,000 GTD: Final Day on: June 05, 2011, 11:42:57 PM
So if Pokernews did do a report to say who wins it would say anon, or would a report not be done? i can see why that would be bad for DTD

A blonde report or a Poker News report would have to give Anon as the winner, yes

They could use "Top Flight Poker Player" instead?

WP Dan

My greatest fear was bokking you with my last post.  That fear is now gone.

It's going to take a hell of a long time to get that prize money off you on .50/1

Jam pre

1350 in the pot - you have no other play  - hope to get called by 55-99  <AT  or AJ-AK and hold

I fully Agee - I was just interested to see if anyone could put forward an argument for folding or standard raising

Had this scenario last night at DTD, just this is more of a "What would you do?" rather than a "What do you think of what I did?" post...

DTD £75 freezout, 18 left and only top 5 paid
Blinds 300/600/50 Average stack 13k, I have 5k

UTG dealt

What do you do and why?

Great Photo's - now just to hope my interview with Compo looks as good.....

I played this event at the weekend and quite honestly say it was the most enjoyable tournament I've ever participated it.

DTD were as ever the best hosts.  Tikay, Compo and the rest of the Sky team were fantastic and all the players from around the country were the happiest and friendliest bunch I've seen at DTD.  All this combined to make a great fun atmosphere.

On the personal front, I came in 7th, despite taking the chiplead early on.  It seemed like only Toby and myself came to the final with any intention of still playing so it was probably inenvitable we were going to clash, with Toby coming off the better on both occasions!  Congrats to the winner Rob, played some good poker and also got that dash of luck required to win these things!

Simon

PS - also busted out Norman Pace, so if anyone starts a "Which 80's comedy icons have you busted?" thread then I can finally contribute!

Did I do a good hollywood job?

Indeed you did - but now you mention it I have thought back and it's an example of where folding KK pre would have been acceptable:

10 mins from end of day one and I have 40k (slightly above average), I've just been moved table and it's a time when I have no information or knowle dge of aforementioned Scottish villain (I'll call him, lets say, Chris).

Chris is on my right and opens early with a standard 3x raise to 3000.  I reraise to 10k (30k left back).  Folds back to Chris who dwells and then shoves for his circa £45k total.  Thinking back, even with no info on the player I should assume that with their above average stack, they aren't going to risk a good start to day 2 without a significant hand.  Combined with the fact that Chris has no information on me either he can't assume I'm making a gutsy play..

But it's all theory - I call and get a Sunday break instead!

Folding pre = not me.  The one time I went with my instinct I got shown QQ....

I went out this month with KK vs AA (although that was Karma as I'd won my seat in the satellite by cracking Aces with the same match up)

Also, I remember in one of the £300's last year, in the last 10 mins of day one, I went out to a KK vs AA cooler against some lucky scottish fella..... Wink

As the second place finisher, I must admit I was surprise (and relieved) at Maria's decision to deal.

She had definitely started picking up chips, and I was starting to feel under pressure being sat between her and the chip leader Ali.  But in the end I think we all appreciated that it could all change in the blink of an eye in any of our favours, making each decision worth around £7k

Wp everyone - it was my first deepstack so I am happy with the result and had some greater banter with many of the Blondes who attended.

Thanks for all the input folks.

I've definitely come to the conlcusion that this was a bad play by me and glad it turned out the way it did or I'd probably never looked at it again.

The result was :

Player calls showing

Turn  River

So despite getting desperately unlucky, I think the only way this hand wasn't going all the way would have been a bigger pre-flop raise.

Oh and I am dropping the check in the dark - Maybe a first post flop bet may make them think AK....

Yes - he 3 bet it

15  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: AA hand - Played right? on: March 10, 2008, 06:58:02 PM
Thanks for the input.

I personally like to check in the dark under 1 of 2 conditions

a) the more often - My hand isn't great and want to disguise it and also restore some kind of position
b) I have a monster hand and I am confident my opponent will bet whatever, thinkng a post flop check may be suspect after a raise.

Although I have gone right off it after this hand!
