As a student I had NTL broadband and didnt have a landline phone of any way, shape or form. They're talking utter balls and just trying to take your money when they say you need the landline, unless of course its part of a contract supplying both.

I used to love the 20k guarantee 10 dollar rebuy on prima. Took a fair few hours, made a few final tables although 3rd was my highest finish.
Don't really have the time nowadays for long drawn out MTT's.

well i might as well throw in my views.
personally, i don't see the point of a 12k raise. you and he both know your pot committed, might as well just move all-in.
But what about a little minimum raise? another four thousand chips in would make him think. building the pot or just trying to re-steal without risking too many chips? depends on your image really. If he reraises then you still have the option of folding, sure 10k left isnt much but the blinds have just gone round so you have some time. If he calls then it makes it easier for him to fold on the flop if he misses (unlikely but easier) but it also gives you some chance of getting away if the flop looks nasty. Of course you'd prefer him to fold, and although an extra 4k to put in to call doesnt seem much compared to the pot, it is a third of his remaining stack, so it would depend on his views on the building or restealing question. its easier to keep playing with 13k than 9k.
Its worked for me at the end of a few tournies, although my upper limit is $50 really (unless i'm feeling particularly lucky), so it might not apply.
however, i agree with a fair few other people, i'd grab my balls and move all-in.

For a start, nice thread, reminds of my university days sitting in lectures listening to stuff about Foucault, Barthes and semiotics.
Personally i sit on the spelling is important side of the fence for a couple of reasons. A dynamic approach to spelling would allow levels of creativity which are almost impossible to understand, spelling fish as ghyti and the like (enough, myth, station). Giving intellectual bastards even more ammo to piss you off with. If you go down the phonetic spelling route, then regional accents become the problem (around the world "bit" is pronounced as bet, but, bat etc). So unless everyone writes as per the phonetic pronunciation of the Queen's English it's unworkable. Having spelling set in stone removes regional differences (to a degree, damned americans).
With regards to evolution, changes in spelling require concensus and with the sheer numbers of people speaking english it's practically impossible. The only way is to slowly introduce new words and phase out old ones.
True, it doesn't matter how you spell a word so long as people understand what you mean, but a line has to be drawn somewhere. Meaning is derived from convention, a tree means a tall woody plant thing because of the conventional spelling, spell it unconventionally and the meaning becomes blurred or lost.
The whole ph instead of f stuff, personally i think this is just part of what makes the langauge interesting, the diversity and all.
Poor spellers don't annoy me at all, just lazy spellers, but I hate textspeak with a passion. using the number 8 in words is criminal, and if someone can tell me if "boi" means something more then "boy" i'd appreciate it, because i really don't see the point in the change.
I don't claim to be great at spelling, but i can hold my own in a game of scrabble. My grammar isn't exceptional but it will do. I only get pedantic with spelling and make people look stupid when someone is slagging me off about my creative plays...

If you play low stakes but want big prize money you can't beat the 20k guarantee on Prima (it normally reaches about 25k but i have seen it as high as 30k after rebuys). 10 dollar rebuy. Absolute carnage in the first hour but as long as you finish the first hour with 7.5k chips your in fine position. 8:30 weekdays. I have final tabled in this without any add-ons or rebuys, so it is possible. $6000 or so for a possible $10 buy-in. Fantastic, I love it. But be prepared to be up till the early hours.

"Hansen knows how to play them... you don't" + pic of rag cards
"Sharks are just big fish"
I couldn't be arsed trawling through 15 pages after not reading this thread for a while, so if there's an overlap, sue me.
