You got be against two big pairs here so I would fold any pair except aces - KK, QQ. JJ or TT included. If they both had AQ or AK then I woiuld kick myself.

I think you want a suited connector to call this one - 7/8 or 8/9 will do me!  ;-)

But I know I would fold to two all in's in reality - why go out early on a half chance i would rather wait for a heads up situation than a 3 way.

Ok this is the situation - I would really like to know if I made the right play here or if I should of waited for a better chance.

Cyrpto online tourney 43 players left (paying out to 60 so I was in the money anyway)
My stack is 10.5 K the average stack is around the 20-25K mark and the chip leader has about 35K.

The Blinds at 600/1200 (ante of 150) and i pick up  in the BB

UTG go's all in for 2.5K and its folded to the small blind who calls - so i think a little and I also call as I felt the pot odds were good.

Flop is  Two Diamonds As - and the SB makes a bet of 1200 - the pots at 7.5K and I had 7.8K left. I had a think and put the SB on a pair of aces too but was worried he might have a stronger kicker than 9. I figured I had any diamond  for the nut flush or a 9 for a nasty two pair as my outs. my oponent had 20K left in chips and I decided that it was a good hand to all in on as I was unlikley to get a better chance with only 7X the BB left if i folded.

Well he did have  and the next two cards were  three clubs so I lost the hand and went out of the game. admitidly it was a gamble but was it the right gamble??

The string bet rule is fair - If you say I call and raise - its possible that you get a "tell" from your opponent  - not only that you are trying to take two actions on your turn which is hardly fair either.
also chucking in a large chip withoit stating your intentions is just a call - a devious player can chuck in a large chip and then wait for a reaction before stating his intentions - thats why its a rule that its just a call.
Its a common mistake for nwere players to make but in  people  say that more experienced players use it to intimidate newbies - well in all fairness speaking as a more experienced player it annoys me that "newbies" can't be bothered to learn basic rules  before sitting down. I think these baseball cap wearing WSOP wannabee's must think there still at home on their PC's.

as mikkyT saidd - "can you string bet online? No, of course not! You put your chips in with one click (or slide & click). Once the action passes, you cannot then say "Er hang on! I'm still betting here".
