I've now qualified for a free one of these via UltimateBet (they never confirmed whether 100 raked hands or 100 points was required, but I got the 100 points pretty quick anyway, and made a few quid).
They again quoted 60-90 days for delivery, but as they are based in the UK it should be quicker. If I like it I'll give y'all a proper review (& if I don't, look out for it on eBay!).

i thought the pkr thing was finished until the final table??
Well that would explain a lot! Thanks. I wish they would actually SAY THAT SOMEWHERE, rather than have a sign saying "Watch The WSOP 2009 Live video feed" GRRR!! If it's not up til the FT then it's dead for 4 months. Got some OK interviews on there tho.

I'm somewhat resistant to all the hype surrounding the latest bright new prospect. I tend to have them down as arrogant wannabees without really knowing anything about them (mainly jealousy of course). But I just saw a quick interview of James Akenhead after he hit the chiplead on day 5 (link below) and he seems like a very level-headed and genuine bloke. Obviously very much on the ball too of course, he sure didn't get to where he is by accident. Really hope he makes the N9. http://tv.pokernews.com/featured-videos/James+Akenhead+-+Chip+Leader+for+the+moment/29230979001 (Thanks to ChipRich for the link.) Pretty good clip, even the blonde fluff seems to know what she's talking. I can't get that fkin PKR live feed to work either. Signed up n all that, but I click "Watch the WSOP 2009 Live Feed" and aint shit happens. Is it a con to get our email addresses or what?

You say you don't play suited Q often because of the danger of the higher flush? Wtf else are you hoping for other than a flush? They're hardly the most connected cards in the world. Like I said, I don't usually like playing that kind of hand. I put $1.50 in, so I was hardly committed. Ok this time you may not be at it but because you raise to "test the water" your vpip increases so everyone widens your opening range. Unless you have the specific intention of looking like a loose cannon to then go on and make money from your big hands you can get in a lot of trouble using this tactic. Appreciate the analysis, no idea what my "vpip" is but I'm aware of how my table image can be affected. I was about 15 hands in, & saw little value in limping against what seemed like a bunch of very passive players. Btw. Once you've flopped 2nd nuts do not pass ever. No matter how deep.
Thanks! I like it how one guy knocks me for playing Q5s, and the next one suggests calling a x7 pfr with 53s is some kind of Gus Hansen type genius! That's what forums are all about I suppose. I notice neither of them made a 2nd post though.

what you doing playing Q 5 anyway.
This is a good question - late position or not, raising with Q5 can't be +ve can it? Well its hardly the loosest play in the world, but TBH I normally don't play suited Q, because of the dangers of the higher flush. In this case I was pretty new to the table, it seemed tight, and I thought I'd test the water a little, for info as much as anything else. Obviously looking back I didn't have enough info on the guy with K8, so should have avoided such a big pot. But then I flopped 2nd nuts! And saw no danger on turn & river. What can you do?!

from the hands you have posted he play a bit like a few very good talent players
infact gus hasen plays thse sort of hands and he has won a little bit more than me
Does Gus Hansen check-re-raise all-in with weak top pair after three players have called a big raise? (Actually I was listening to Brian Hastings the other day, he was saying he doesn't play at nosebleed levels any more, $250-$500 for example, unless Hansen is on. Not everyone rates him as highly as you.) Trust me, this guy hadn't got a clue. He called a 7 x PFR with crap, & got very lucky. Consistently losing on a 50 cent table doesn't make you a "very good talent player" ! But this is pretty off topic now. Forget it.

Must admit I'm pretty tempted by this. I don't think there's that much wrong with a mouse personally, but this thing will pay for itself pretty damn quick with that tilt button! (as long as I press it of course).
Slightly suspicious that they don't show one in action tho. It cud well be a lump of cack, but worth getting a free one I think (ultimatebet, $25 deposit & 100 raked hands, seems too easy).

surely it not being your style is a good reason to read it? no point in buying a book that tells you how to play how you already play
Understand your point, but how hard is it to play tight? And when you do play a big hand, how will you get action? Maybe Harrington has the answers, but I'm not interested. I play poker for enjoyment as much as profit, and folding all the time is not my idea of fun. Elements Of Poker for me.

Why do you call someone a moron / idiot, just cos they play a different way to you / badly / not optimally (delete as you think appropriate). He could be the nicest guy in the world, just enjoying a game of cards.
Maybe he's not an idiot/moron, he just plays poker like one. Is that better for you? Maybe he is a nice guy, possibly successful, and therefore has money to waste attempting to play a game that he has very limited understanding of. How would you describe a player who consistantly puts chips into a pot when he's clearly way behind? It's not personal. I seek out players like this. I have a list. I want him to be chucking his money away. I enjoy playing against morons. Until they flop a str8 flush against me.

It was ironic really, I had only just moved to PokerStars coz I was sick of the coolers I was getting on another site.
sigh +1 [ ] Good logic [ ] This will prevent future coolers LOL! Yeah, I suppose that's a bit like going to a different poker forum to avoid sarcastic comments. I know the site doesn't matter, its just that I needed a change, and the change has helped me reverse a little bad streak I was having. As for the second hand I detailed, its hard to really judge me without knowing what a total moron the other guy was. He cud've literally had any 2, he was calling flops with sweet FA, no draw, nothing. This is how bad he was: On with 5 players in the hand, 2 call a big raise & he pushes with from the big blind (he got 3 callers, , , and me with , I hit the river for a nice pot). Anyway, I was just interested in how easy you think it is to fold flop 2nd nuts.

lol, I was joking mate. It is crap, I got it for Christmas a while ago and could only watch 10 minutes of it. If you look at my stats you will see how much of a fish I am. In terms of poker books , I am reading the Harrington cash game vol 1 at the moment.
LOL! Well, you sold me that bluff pretty well! Ain't Harrington the one who says to fold virtually every hand? Not my style, won't be buying that.
