Sad news indeed.  Poker425 introduced me to blonde and for that I will be forever in its debt.  Thanks to all involved in the production, the show will be missed...

Hi, i tuned into poker425 tonight and was shocked to see it was to be the last show.
It never made any mention why this was, so as soon as the show ended i checked on these forums and i couldn't find any explaination here either, so i'd just like to ask, what is the reason the shows been axed?

It ended because William Hill decided to close down their Channel, 854, (previously 425), & so the show never had a "home". Wm Hill, not unreasonably, are now targeting their Marketing spend on the Wm Hill Grand Prix, which has, deservedly, gained great respect.

But don't be giving up on the 425 Team yet awhile - discussions continue with 3 or 4 parties, & the show is far from finished, it may well appear "elsewhere" in January.

There is also other stuff going on under the radar - watch this space for some interesting news soon!

Im glad to hear that tikay.

Whilst there will ALWAYS be a viewer base for these sort of shows, its not likely they will ever become mainstream. And being on the fringe doesnt make a lot of money for the channel who carries the show. Unless you guys are prepared to work for free, giving up time for free and all the rest of it I cant see there being an awful lot of hope.  The blonde updates Im guessing cost you money and thats pretty much what I envision for a show carrying poker news. Its either gotta be amatuer or have some other revenue stream... like a sponsor?

We - those in the TV Show Team - are talking to several would-be Sponsors right now, & we have meetings lined up with 2 of them already.

The blonde Updates are a different ketle of fish. They will alway cost us cash, & that's by design. We just need to find enough revenue from other sources to finance them. I am fairly relaxed about achieving that. blonde is now covering costs - just - so we are OK for the moment. But oddly, just as we get past the break-even barrier, we have lost Poker 425 as a Badging Sponsor! Never mind, success was never meant to be easily achieved.

Tikay with finding a new home for such an informative fun show......lets face facts, its not exactly a high budget show Wink and with some gaming companies making big money from Poker/gambling, someone must see the benefit of "taking over"and using a bit of their Marketing budget . ....eg Poker Stars/ Betfair??
