playing live thru the week this lil gem pops up

blind at 100/200

just as utg is gonna act a mid player position announces a raise to 500,fully admitting he is acting out of turn but also stating his bet must stand???

the funny thing is the rest of the table me included allowed his bet to continue,he lost the hand anyway after folded to a raise all in after him

but this is surely a total abuse of rules?

I thought you forfeited your right to bet if you act out of turn?

No, usually, the rule is "the bet stands" if you BET out of turn, but you can only call from thereon in. But it varies from Casino to Casino, game to game, day to day. We dont have standardised rules, see?

yep the wise old man is right....it's a thing I see quite a few players do..especially players who think they are the big guy at a poker table...(and are ussually the worst player there)
