Should I have folded?

Basically the question says it all.

I have been losing big time lately and I cant pinpoint where im going wrong.

I watch the players and suss out who are the rocks and who are the chancers and try to play accordingly but alas the wave has gone and im washed up on the beach.

When I play AKs/AA im outdrawn.....actually every f**kin hand I play its like..say goodbye. AQ is a complete killer for me at the moment so I dont even touch it.

Im thinking I might be on tilt (had another asshole give me shit tonight)

So advice please.....should i have folded?

Its a pot I could have walked away from and I know as soon as I saw his hand it would hit coz that just seems to be the way it is at the moment and lets face it who wouldnt with AKs

My question is.....was I making the right move going allin with JJ?

Not looked on the poker hand analysis board for AGES...maybe thats why im playing like a fool.

No it's a fair call IMO. Most people on the BB here would play a big Ace (or some a small pair) exactly this way. I'd probably call this with JJ...especially later on in the game. It's a race and you sometimes lose them...sometimes you lose them all, or seem to anyways.

I see a lot of people folding JJ in this situation as they would rather avoid a race (and ofcourse you might have been a massive dog anyways) especially at the fairly early stages of an STT. Races are great in the latter stages of a tourney but in the early ones you can definetly be forgiven if you lay this down.

Ok, what i'm going to say may be a little controversial but it is my honest opinion - i don't think you are going to find the answer to your underlying problem on the poker hand analysis board. I dont think the problem is the hands themselves, its the emotional state of the person playing them. Its something you've touched on in a thread in the general section

To me you seem too emotional at the table, any little thing that upsets you or winds you up means you quickly go on tilt - the more emotional you get the more mistakes you probably make at the table.

You need to leave your emotions in another room before you sit down at the poker table to play a tournament - If you are in a highly emotional state at some point during a tournament then that is the most likely time that you will lower your guard and make a mistake which in a tournament could mean your untimely exit. Try to remain as emotionless as possible during the tournament and you will be less likely to make an error as you will be playing your "a-game" throughout.

I'm not saying that you play like a robot, you still have to enjoy it and have fun otherwise but learn to control the anger, elation and disappointments - take a look at Phil Ivey's expressions when he plays, you'll never be able to tell the difference from when he's just won a big pot to when he's just suffered a horrendous outdraw.

You appeared to keep your emotions in check when i sat next to you at BB3 - what do you do in a live tournament to keep your emotions in check? Try playing online as you played in Walsall, i know sometimes its difficult i even sit shouting at the screen myself when someone makes a horrendous call against me and outdraws me but at the end of the day thats what i want as in the long run i'll make a profit from players like this, i have learnt to control the emotions with a flick of a switch so that as soon as the cards are being dealt for the next hand i'm ready to play to the best of my ability without the previous hand effecting me.

Also play with the chat turned off, it seems that a lot of the time you tilt because of things people say to you during the game - if you cant read them you are less likely to go on tilt.

And in answer to your original question, its touch and go but i'd probably make the call - whilst it is an extended STT so the levels are a bit longer you cant sit around waiting for AA forever and having put 25% of your stack in on the original raise then unless you have notes to say your opponent is a complete rock then i'd make the call.

Remember though at the end of the day - its only a game!!

You lost when you were favourite, this happens, but why did you call with JJ in this spot all in?
Just asking what was your reasoning.

Boldie.. had it been in the early stages of the game I would without a doubt have folded. JJ is  not that great a hand when you have been reraised allin which is why I questioned the way I played it. I could have laid it down and still had 1700 and afterwards I felt I had should have.

Tantrum.. I raised x4 bb because I really didnt want anyone in the pot and hoped the raise was big enough to take the blinds. If I was called and I didnt like the flop then I still had enough chips to lay it down. The reason I made a move at this stage is because in 3mins the blinds are going up and then ive only got 11 x bb. With 2 players gone I felt it was the right time to make a push.

Matt.. I know you are right about turning the chat off but most of the time I dont find it distracting. In fact it helps me to lay down iffy hands if im chatting to someone. What I SHOULD AND WILL DO though is switch it off when someone is having a go at me.

Last night this guy had a go at me about a hand I had played saying that I had sucked him out and went on and on about how bad a player I was. When I thought about it I realised he was right which dented my confidence and resulted in me rocking up so much that I blinded away.

So I will try playing with the chat off for a few days and see if my results are any better.

Ok at this stage, if you don't want really a call, with your stack= you push all in you don't raise 4xbb with 1 limper already in the pot.

As to the chat, why on earth you pay attention what some pple that you know nothing about are saying to you?

You did not push susanne, you raised and called re-raise this is a difference.  I don't mind you pushing with JJ and even calling if you think you are ahead, which you were, but if you lostmove on and play next tourney.
