If I had written this post this morning it would have been a total rant so it was probably a good thing that my daughter wanted a lot of attention today and wouldn't give me the time. Instead of fuming I'm just a bit infuriated now.
I've just got back from holiday and for reasons that are too long and boring to go into I decided to pull my roll out of betfair and stick it on will hill instead. Obviously it takes a couple of days for the money to get back into my bank account so instead of going overdrawn for a day or two I thought I'd try to build up the £33 I had in my will hill account into a proper bankroll. I like doing this sort of thing it's like a challenge and it also keeps me playing games that I know I can beat instead of playing too high and getting beaten back down which I have done on too many occasions now.
So as I'm a SNG player i fire up 3 £11s and after a few games I get up to £90 odd last night. So I start 4 £11s and 2 £22s and although I bust out of 2 £11s I'm pretty deep in the others and everythings going well until guess what? The usual crapto disconnection/software crashing problem which seems to crop up every couple of weeks or so when I'm playing anyway. I hate it when this happens because betfair refuse to accept that as I'm a long term 20% ROI player they should pay me back my buy ins + 20%, they just refund the buyins. So I send off an email to will hill and expect to have £90 odd in my account the next morning.
Now a couple of points about software crashes, I played at party and various skins for over 2 years and whenever they had a software problem the money was automatically put back into my account without having to email them and complain. Everyone complains about party support but in my experience you don't actually need to contact them as much as other sites. Point 2 is that for example the last time this happened at betfair I was playing 6 £22s when this happened, very deep in them all. I complained and the next morning I didn't just get an email saying they'd refunded the buyins I also got a phone call apologising as well, apparently it was a problem that only affected customers with a BT internet connection and betfair were going to refund the players and try to get compensation from BT. Whilst I wish that the crapto software didn't crash and that when it does I didn't have to email a complaint I thought that was pretty good of them to take the time out to call me and explain.
So anyway I check my emails this morning to find some long old reply from will hill and I think yeah cool money back try again, but once I start reading it I realise that they are saying they're not refunding my money the main point in amoungst a long rambling email in amoungst them advising me to update my computer and a list of links to 3 card and video poker was this;
"As you may be aware the poker platform used by William Hill is a multi-merchant site and therefore entry fees are only refunded if the poker server crashes and ALL players are unable to continue or start playing."
Wow, so i check my account and it seems that I won one of the sngs and came second in another so I have £53 in my account. Surely the only way I can win a sng that I'm not playing is if everyone is disconnected at the same time? I have just checked the betfair forum and there is a long thread about how everyone was disconnected at the same time as I was playing last night. I reply to the will hill email but they haven't replied. I presume they'll say if I asked that it's because I didn't reply between the 2 lines on their email like they tell you to. Excellent customer service that, they'll only comumicate with their customers if you type in the right stupid place.
Now I don't think that I'm some sort of high roller who deserves special treatment, I read about some guy who sat on an online table with $750,000 today so compaired to people like that I am a nobody but I do spend somewhere in the region of £20K a year in sng entry fees. I believe that will hill have to pay 30% of my fees to crapto so that means that today with one stupid decision and an even stupider email they lost the £14K per year income that I was more than happy to pay them to play against the fish who play at crapto. I'm sure that's not a lot of money to Mr Hill but it doesn't take too many people like myself to refuse to play there anymore before it will I'm sure affect the size of his wallet.
I spent a few minutes searching for a rakeback affilaiate today and I have found loads of them offering 30% rakeback at InterPoker (also crapto). I had signed up to will hill through this site so unfortunately it may be that Blonde will lose out on some money as well. So to my question if anyone can tell me is this, if will hill don't refund the buyins when the software they chose to use crashes but betfair do, and even if Inter are the same but I'll be getting £6K a year rake back to make up for it, why the hell does anyone play tourneys at will hill?
I think there is a rapidly growing opinion amoungst a lot of high volume players that we're not going to put up with nonsense like this anymore. There are many many sites that I can make similar money on each week so why play at a site which is effectively stealing my money. I don't think it's a suprise that pokerstars are growing so rapidly when they are acknowledged to have the best support in the business. I have only ever had one complaint about stars and I got a reply from Lee Jones himself, I don't think you can do better than that. If someone from will hill reads this and decides to give me my money back please don't bother, the only time I'll ever play at your site is to play sats and the charity tourneys that have started running recently. You are doing good things in the poker comunity like adding money to tourneys etc but why bother spending thousands of pounds doing that when you're just going to piss off half your customers by not refunding them a few quid when your main competiter seems happy to do so.
Well I'm off to sort out my 30% rakeback deal. £6K a year'll buy a lotta beer.......
