what kind of paypal account do i need for selling and buying stuff off ebay heard all the cool kids are doing this so been trying to set up a paypal account since what seems the dawn of time at the sign up page it ask if you want a personal or premier account i choose the second option and this throws up all kind of problems they say will deposit to small amounts into my account within 2-5 days and i need to verify this what the fck i want to sell stuff to day so some questions

- can i use the personal account to buy and sell stuff off ebay?

- if so how will i change settings from premier to personal ?

- will i still have to wait 2-5 days to verify account on personal account ?

- is life still worth living?

It was some years ago when I set up my business account with paypal & after thousands of transactions I've never had a problem.

Personal account is fine for buying & selling as far as I know. Once set up its all straight forward.

One of them you have to pay commission on.  If someone pays you via credit card into Paypal, you'll have to upgrade anyway.

You have to email support to move back down to personal.  You can move down once, but if you move back to Premier (to take a credit card) then you won't be able to move back down again.

Paypal is handy if you are using ebay, but expect to go to the paying version soon enough.  You have to make it easy for people to pay you but if you can get away on the free version for now, its a bonus Smiley

The verification process is quite simple really...they pay for example 4p and 6p into your bank account. You then email them with the 2 figures and bingo...ur account is verified.

If you have online banking then this can all be done fairly quickly...meanwhile put your auction up for 7 days and it will all be sorted before it ends.

I like paypal for the simplicity but to be honest I find their charges outragous. If you are selling one off items stick to cheques and state in the auction that you will wait till cheque clears before posting. This can put some buyers off though and sometimes its better to pay the paypal charges as it will attract more bidders.

Just dont tell them!! Wink

And on the subject of PayPal, you could always buy something from ebay (high value of course) and when it comes WITHOUT registered post, tell Paypal you NEVER recieved it, and Paypal WILL refund your money, no questions asked!

Well thats what some B'stad did to me, and yes Paypal take it from the person who sold the goods!

**** PayPal!!!!

This happened to me a few times too which is why I gave it up selling in the end.

Cheques really are better as long as you are not selling 100+ items at one time and dont mind the filthy looks from the bank teller as you hand them over  Grin

You can avoid this by sticking them in those envelopes these days - no queuing, no handing over Cheesy

The downside is that scammers can get away with things.   Also if anyone picks something up but pays with paypal, get them to sign for it.  I've heard stories of people paying, then going to collect tele's (and alike) then saying to paypal that they've nto received the goods and then they get the money back.

Thankfully 99.9% of people are honest
