Another Live NLHE Pokah Hand. I will setup the hand and give you the action up till the turn and then ask you what you would do and WHY. After sufficent analysis/replies I will then tell you what action I took and why.

The scene of da crime(hand):
It's The Tropicana in Atlantic City. (Yet Again) I've just been moved, along with 1 other player from a broken $1-$2 NLHE cash game ($300 cap sitdown) to fill one the remaining tables (10 handed). I have declined a seat in a $2-$5 game after reviewing the table and seeing it is highly populated with good/tight players.

Important Stack info
MadYank(MY): $950 (I just whacked a crazy guy with set vs overpair 999 vs 1010 on a 9 4 2 flop)
Young Fun Kid(YFK): $1000 (Sat directly to my left. He has been running good at this table and is having lots of friendly fun with the table of mostly youngish good natured players)
Rest of Table Avg Guys (ROTAG): $450

Position
SB : ROTAG
BB : ROTAG
UTG : MY
EP1 : YFK
EP2 : ROTAG
MP1: ROTAG
MP2 : ROTAG
HiJack : ROTAG
CutOff : ROTAG
Button : ROTAG

Preflop
MY UTG raise to $10 with
The only hand I've shown down so far in one round at this table is QQ for a medium sized pot with no crazy action. Also the other players asked how I got my big stack and I truthfully told them about the set vs overpair at the previous table.

FYK reraise to $25
His raise is normally placed and has a certain amount of confidence but not the "gone all quiet drama" of AA or KK.

EP2, MP1, MP2, HJ, CO, Button, SB, BB Fold

MY calls $25

Flop:    ($53 in the pot)

MY checks

FYK bets $30
He looks and feels confident and this seems a standard Continuation bet.

MY calls $30
I have a strong draw but I'm not going to go apeshit here out of position.

Turn       ($113 in the pot)

MY checks

FYK bets $80

What do you do now?
Why?
What range of hands do you put RS on?

Raise to $240, and make him pay for his FH draw (9 or 4 outs) or possible better flush draw with AxKd (7 outs.)

Bet out on river- maybe $300 into the $593 pot if a blank arrives, and around $200 if a danger card arrives (and fold to a raise.)

----

Why would you raise 5BB full-handed UTG w/junk though? Were you hoping to win the pot at some point on a bluff, and to show your hand- and then tighten up? It can work out very costly! Smiley

firstly there's no chance imo that he has a flush. the biggest hand he could have to have made a flush is KJ and it's clear he doesn't hold that given the info. whats important is the info he has on you. you've only shown down QQ. why would he be confidently betting unless he had at least a set? i think aces is the most likely holding. if he has kings i really don't understand his bet on the turn. either way i don't think another diamond on the river is a scary card here. given this i make a long dwell up and pump it up 150 more. if he flat calls it will have to be a value bet on the river but he may well re-raise you given the fact he has enough behind him still at this point to fold to a re-reaise from you.

The way the hand has been played it is difficult for him to put you on a flush - he probably puts you on AQ and thinks his set of nines is good.

there's no way I'm laying down the flush here. After the betting he can't take you for the rubbish hand (it was pre-flop) you have and I don't think he's got the flush.

call and hope he doesn't have the flush and that the board doesn't house up.
