Its taken me a little under a week to crack open the laptop in anger, so for those who didn't already know, yes I went out on Day 1!
Ever had the feeling its not your day, well it was just one of those, I was in serious need of a lucky rabbits foot or something - all I could find was a sheep and they were all far to familiar with male company and so ran for the hills!!
A nightmare journey down saw me diverted to find money for the ridiculous 'cash only' toll bridge, checking into what can only be described as deliverance land only to find I was too early and had to leave laptop and luggage in the boot of my car, met by half man half body odour experiment, taken for a ride by a taxi company that first got lost then pulled by the police and charged me a fortune!
The event kicks off and I played 3 of the first 5 hands:
1. QQ - beaten by 99s that caught a set on the flop
2. TT - beaten by a 68s that caught a straight on the flop
3. AQ - beaten by 58 that caught a straight on the river after calling a large rerarise on the Q high flop and a pot bet on the turn chasing just 4 outs.
All of which I was fortunate left me with c6k. From which I didn't recover. I went out c120/240 around 9pm but it was a struggle and I never really got going. Not only through a combination of feminine play (sorry girls) but also a series of hands that would make even Jeremy Beadle wince!! Seriously, I know the game is poker not cards, but i folded 21 times in a row and wasn't even getting anything near marginal at times. AAAAAAaaarggh. Must learn to calm down. All in all I was frustrated in my game but on reflection I don't think I did a lot wrong, I just didn't do a lot right when I needed too and lady luck had begun a trial separation.
On the positive I was taken back by people I didn't know coming up to me and just talking to me, sounds weird I know, but loads of people were really supportive and interested in both Newcastle and how I was fairing in Cardiff. The atmosphere at APAT events is testament to the good that it is achieving in the game, I really believe we are fortunate to have this arena. Given the play I have seen on a number of occasions I do think the standard is there to suggest some people will go on to bigger and better things. Oh and also, Lee Mulligan knocked me out calling my preflop push with

vs my

(typical), well done Lee and good luck in Germany!!
Hopefully I can give a better account of myself next, till then I'm off looking for a rabbits foot!
And Des....why no pic??
