Do you think if Bill Gates got laid in high school, do you think there'd be a Microsoft?
Of course not.

it must have hit a raw note somewhere as the church issued a statement regarding the books content, something they have NEVER done before
Doesn't surprise me. The church being sexist is definately not the way forward in the 21st Century! They must have hated the Mary Magdelene thing coming out.
So the consensus is Digital Fortress is crap?

the worst of his books, IMO
Anyone out there like the Harry Bosch series by Michael Connelly, or the Scarpettas by Patricia Cornwell?
What else MUST I read? (any format...fiction, non fiction, biography etc)

That book is so good it's hard to believe it's real at times.

Others have said the same. It's quite deep. And dark for that matter.

I like Connelly, just missed meeting him in LA but he left a signed book for me. Clint Eastwood has the rights to the books, Blood work was ok as film but hopefully the Bosch ones will be better.
Have you tried Dennis Lehane, Lee Child or Robert Crais? Not too keen on Cornwell.

Now then, who came first Janet and John or Peter and Jane? - I can never remember!
I used to adore Enid Blyton's books, especially the Famous Five ones - those kids sure were spunky!
My all time fave for the past God knows how many years has been Jilly Cooper, sad I know, but then at the opposite end of the specturm I love Andy McNab and Chris Ryan books.
