http://www.cardplayer.com/poker_news/article/8646

Just noticed this on the Cardplayer site.

Anyway if we can get a series of decent events over here in Europe it may lead to us never having to go to The USA again as we can then meet all our poker needs here on this side of the pond.

I can't help but feel that this is in no small way down to John Duthie who (along with Pokerstars) has made the EPT what it is today and long may it continue to grow and flourish.

The Grand Final in Monte Carlo which I was fortunate enough to attend recently was a very successful and very well run event (depsite my usual gripes which were more rules related) but it clearly demonstrated that there is both the ability to run and the demand to hold such events here in Europe.

So anyway a big BIG thank you to John Duthie for showing the way to those on the other side of the pond who will no doubt be looking to expand into Europe after the recent US UIGA legislation and if they do we can only benefit as players.

Well said - John Duthie has worked wonders with the EPT, and hopefully there will be even more events added to next season's list.

I could not agree more, Harry, I am full of awe as to what JD has achieved in such a short period with the EPT. My only gripe is that I feel the players deserve to be compensated with Added Value for being messed around by the TV Crews, but set against the grand scheme of things, Tournament players in Europe have much to thank John's EPT for.

I believe Europe is superior to the USA as we do have some added prize money events (Ladbrokes, William Hill, Paddy Power etc etc) and they give us players better value for money as they take less out of the pools.

It is my honest belief that added money though corporate sponsorship will follow in the near future which hopefully will shoot Europe light years ahead of the USA and then we'll have all the yanks coming over in droves to play over here.

On that we are of one mind Harry - sponsors want their name on an Event, & added to the inconvenience to players with the intrusion of TV Tables & such like, merits compensation via Added Money. Several have done it already, & more will, very soon.

Tournament Poker in Europe just gets better & better, & it was JD & the EPT that got the ball rolling.

Could not agree more.  Big up to John and the team at PokerStars that backed his judgement.
