First there was Western Roll, then 1 card vs 2 card Hold Em...now, thanks to Neil Channing I beleive, another variant has hit my local............

I present to you, "bookmakers Hold Em"

a game for 4 to 5 players

5 Hold Em Hands are dealt face up

in turn each hand is assigned "odds", always as follows:

Evens

2/1

3/1

5/1

8/1

each player Takes it in turn to deal, and is the bookmaker

player to dealers left gets first choice of which hand he wishes to back...and then it goes in turn amongst the other non dealers

the community cards are dealt, as in Hold Em, at the end of the hand the bookie is paid or pays accordiing to the result

next hand, next player is bookie and so on

Very addictive, very funny...but please...cap your stakes!!!

So the first hand dealt is always Evens, and the last hand is always 8/1 (even if AA)?

No doubt invented by someone who thought 6 card Omaha didn't have enough 'gamble' in it.

Isn't this like the Betfair exchange game for holdem?

sounds like fun, but would it not make more sense if the odds went with choices, ie first hand chosen is evens and last 8-1

Played this on wednesday night during the break at Luton, fantastic fun, max stake £5, biggest risk of  loss £40 if you are the bookie. But beware, whilst celebrating a 3/1 win i punched the air in delight not realising that some poor bugger was behind me and i managed to catch him flush on the chin!!! Luckily he was smaller than me and took it quite well!!

Great laugh had by all, 5 people playing, 20 people watching!!!

should be a regular feature i think

Sounds like fun... but a question -

What happens in the case of a dead-heat? ie. 2 hands finish up equal or even all 5 play the board. Would the dealer pay everyone at full odds or at reduced odds?
