I'm with ITB.

Becks has started just 12 games for Real Madrid all season. Well past his best and not really going to be an option for the 2008 Championships. More importantly we have better options. SWP, Lennon (when on form) and players coming through like Bentley and Pennant deserve a shot.

I'm really sick of the media deciding his England future. They basically got him dropped and now they've had him recalled.

Enough is enough. McClaren is a puppet.

Against Estonia in a must win game I would take Beckham and his dead ball expertise over SWP, Bentley or Pennant

beyond that, a necessary short term solution due to Lennon's unavailability, I would be trying younger players.

This doesn't make a lot of sense....

Beckham wasn't dropped because he wasn't good enough. Despite his detractors he was one of the misfiring England's main goal threats in the world cup.

He was dropped to signal a change of guard, a hopefully new and more promising era for England and a chance to blood promising young players like lennon/pennant and build a team for the future.

What signal does bringing him back send after only a season where he has played not much football for real?

It makes Mclaren look weak and unsure of himself and like ITB said, desperate.

Mclaren was always a horrible appointment and decisions like this just confirm this for me.

Watched Madrid's last few games and Beckham has been performing reasonably well.

good shout for bentley to be given a chance, if you would play beckham instead of lennon or swp due to his deadball skills then why not try bentley who is somewhere between them.

alot more agile and hardworking than mr beckham is now and certainly no mug at dead ball situations.

also young and one for the future and plays a bit of poker to

the english fans/media have a funny way theytreat thier players

young players are vastly overrated and over priced(apart from rooney, special player), while established players are dragged down all the time.

i remember shearer had a goal drought and was to be axed by fans/media, imo one of the best centre forwrds englands ever had.
same with beckam, hes a class above other attacking mids, and far more potent.

short term option which will work very well. will defo boost the morale in the camp as it is verry low at the moment.

he should never have been dropped from the squad in the first place. mclaren is desperate now and he knows db will do the business. he has the experience which is what england need now. the pressure is so gr8 on england no the youngsters will fold under the pressure as we have seen.

neva been a massive fan of DB but ime pretty sure he will ease alot of nerves come the next few games.

now lets stop debating and get behind the boys lol
