Hello All,

I am after a new laptop, and want it to do specific things, so who better to ask than the people know.....

It has to has to have a big screen -- 17"... It is going to mainly only used for Poker. I want it to have a good enough graphics card to be able to play 4 games...

Also I am not sure about this... But can anyone explain about the GSM mobile thingy... Where you lappy connects basically via a mobile phone? I need this for the rare occasions out on site when I need tinterweb access...Can this be installed into a laptop or is this an extra peripheral.

And all for under £400... Only joking.....

Thanks guys and gals...

if you wanna play 4 tables with no overlap, standard internet poker player laptop is a dell, just go to their website and spec one up how you want it, you can copy/paste the spec here and people will advise if they think it's good or not. any old graphics card will show 4 tables as long as the resolution of the moniter is more than 1600/1200. you can get 1900/1200 or something on the dells make sure you spec it and i would advise 2 gigawotsits of ram cos vista and all the other crap dell install eat up memory. will cost about £1K prob.

dunno about the mobile thing sorry. there are 3 or 4 blondes i can name off the top of my head with these, not heard of any problems yet.

It probably depends on the phone - I set up a client's Nokia so they could get net access on holiday using a standard USB phone connection cable and the Nokia software downloaded from their site. Took all of 10 minutes.

Are you going to be playing at home or on the move? Maybe consider getting a seperate monitor for the times when the laptop screen isn't enough. It could save you £500+ on the price of those super resulution laptops (and that's taking off the cost of a 1600x1200 £260ish monitor).

Even a 17" (1280x1024) screen won't show more than 1 table (800x600) with no overlap.

How many tables do you want to play and are you going to cascade them or do you want them with no overlap?

Wouldn't worry about getting built in 3G or GPRS, your better off using a bluetooth phone or getting an add on card, than restricting your choice (severly!) by looking for one with built in 3G. Wi-fi should do you in built up areas anyway.
