Industry Standard Rules - A Question

Before the 2005 gaming act gets implemented the UK had problems adhering to worldwide rules, as the Americans/rest of the world had rules that could not be implemented here without breaching parts of guideline 3.

In September guideline 3 is abolished and casinos will have the freedom to do as the rest of the world does.

Are we as a nation still going to have different rules, or are places going to comply with a universal rulebook, if so whcih would that be ?

TDA, IPF, Roberts, Mike Caro's etc

Do Vegas cardrooms all use the same rules, do they have a standard rules problem or is that in house as well?

In theory this is quite simple, as you have pointed out there are rules out there that can be easily adopted, so the casinos just need to agree which ones to use.  Is it that simple in practice?  Do the decision makers in the casino chains know that this is not a big problem and they just need to get together and agree which rules to adopt for cash and tournaments or do they think they will actually have to write them?

My vote would be for Robert's, plus TDA for tournaments.

Casinos have the complete inabilty to agree on a standardised ruleset. It's laughable, but hopefully things will change.

I think that once we can get rid of Guidline 3 from our cardrooms a significant change will ensue.

One of the biggest changes that i will be happy about is allowing players to enter a competition later than what they are allowed to now. i.e must be on premises at start of the comp. Although it does create a certain punctuality it also has a big negative for me too having to turn people away for being a minute or 2 late.

I know that players will have many changes that they to will be glad to see, my example is just one. I have read Roberts Rules and also the TDA rules and both are very good.

Now that Harrah's own LCI and the imminent loss of GL3 will we see the rules that Harrah's use brought across the water?

The BCA and the Gambling Commision are largely a bunch of Hooray Henry ex-coppers looking for a golden handshake after their retirment. Some of the rules governing casinos and card rooms are so draconian even Vlad The Impaler would have trouble passing them!

Grosvenor have no firm idea on what we will be allowing after Sept 1st, but we already have a standard set of rules used in all our clubs, if other clubs such as Stanley's or Gala wish to follow our lead and use our rules thats up to them but our rules are here to stay.
As the laws change we will continue to adapt our rules for the good of the game.

And each have their quirks, like grosvenor's "heads up minimum raise" rule??

 

And it's not exactly true, all have company standard rules, but it is how each club "interprets" them, even each TD

but I agree how people interpret each rule can differ, but that is something we are working on.

BTW it's that attitude, that is the reason all the rules are fcuked up, as every chain tries to feed it's own ego! It's not just Grosvenor that has that attitude it is all of them.
