Is a very real weakness of mine. Is it really just a case of sitting back and waiting for good cards? And even then ... you know, they're to my right, stick in pre flop raise, I re-raise strongly with AK, they call, I miss the raggyish flop, they fire out a pot size bet - where do I stand? If I raise (or call) and I'm wrong, I have no chips left.

Any tips would be wonderfully appreciated.

It really depends what do you mean by LAGs.

Besides if their range is wide and they raise pre-flop often, sometimes it is better to flat call them and outplay them post flop.  But to do so you need to have your reading skills in a good shape.  Depending on your opposition you must adjust your play.

LAG is the only way to play to become a long term winning mtt player imo, there are very few exceptions to the rule.

So you're suggesting you fight fire with fire, and the only way to beat a LAG is to play as one?

I'm certainly not going to try that one. I need to loosen up a bit, but not when playing against a LAG, I fancy.

Kinboshi - score against Toulouse today? I think it'll be tough...

Depends if your talking about tourneys or cash? In MTT's in your AK situation if your going to re-raise I would shove for the lot just to make sure you see five cards if they call. In MTT's you can in fact re-raise a mid-late position raiser if you have position with a whole heap of junk if you have watched them and know they are weak or if they are a serial raiser and get away with it alot of the time. Just pick your player, don't do it too regularly and do it in mid-late tourney where its an amount worth winning preferably.

In cash, in a full ring game as a general rule playing the opposite of the table isn't a bad strategy. However if its short handed you need to get busy in position and don't be scared to make re-raises with less than premium hands with serial aggressors.

Employ Anti-LAG measures.

If LAG's target your blind, & you roll over, they'll do it again & again, they target the weak. Evil buggers, them LAG's. If you resist, they'll soon stop, & target someone else.

LAG's usually operate with the advantage of Position. Reverse this position by simply calling the Raise, then fire out on ANY flop. They soon give up.

At one time, I believed all LAG's should be shot, promptly, but I have warmed to them now, they are the Meal Ticket for us TAG's. Give me a table full of LAG's, & I'm gonna run deep for sure.

Let's Love LAG's. Wink
