After following some of the advice given so far im tempted to go with this Toshiba model:

Toshiba L500-1CQ Laptop

(Intel Core™2 Duo T6600, 3GB, 250GB, 15.6" Screen, Windows 7 Home Premium)

With 10% discount it will be coming in at £404

Can anyone recommend a better Toshiba model for around about the same cost?
