look for value bets/don't do accas. Have fun with big odds goalscorers bets instead. I know a bit about it.

I used to do a lot of it, my advice would be set up a bankroll like you may do with poker.

Never commit more than 25% of your bankroll to any one bet to start with, and then try to reduce this to <10% asap.

Bet singles only or the occasional short price double - don't be afraid of betting odds on unlike a lot of people.  I would always rather win at a short price than lose at a big price.

Websites such as mybetting.co.uk and oddschecker.com have up to date prices and all the details about special introductory offers bookies provide to new sign-ups.

Also, try to make friends with some local bookies as soon as possible - get friendly enough and they may price match 'local' bookies.  I can get Coral to price match Stan James even though the nearest one is 100 miles away.

Finally, and possibly the best bit of advice is stick to fields you know a lot about.  Ie if you know a lot about English football, bet on it, but then dont bet on European football.

As far as specialists go, there are people who solely concentrate on non-league or scottish football where team news has a big effect on the game, and the results tend to be more predictable.
