seriously though, i can only think of the inland revenue being a problem,retired seems fine, why the reluctance to tell a doctor, a police officer,insurance company you play poker for a living,

Some Insurance companies have been known to be a lot more reluctant to insure your car if you are a poker player. Part of their rationale is that often you may have money in the car if travelling to and from casinos and therefore your car is more likely to be broken into.

i see what you mean,i suppose the insurance companies must be able to back it up with stats, i think some poker players have had trouble getting a mortgage as well

i see what you mean,i suppose the insurance companies must be able to back it up with stats, i think some poker players have had trouble getting a mortgage as well

Different things really, with insurance you are paying a premium up front for a service. With mortgage you are effectively taking a loan secured against an asset, which involves paying it back. Companies don't like lending money to people with no guaranteed income, I have had to get my parents to act as a guarantor when i have been renting places.
