I cant sleep at night as you can see as I am posting on here at nearly 4am when i know I have to be up to get kids to school at 7am hours but that is normal for me.

I will sleep for a couple of hours, get up and send them off to school then go back to bed.
In winter I am lucky to see a few hours of daylight.

I smoke about 30 a day.

I drink a wee bit (a lot) over the recommended units per week and my ironing pile is getting bigger and bigger by the day.

Sooooooo I was thinking.....If I invested in some hypnotherapy to help me stop smoking and go to bed early so I wouldnt be staying up late and drinking so much and then obviously not playing poker into the wee small hours ...could I change my life around?

With 2 disabled kids (they are not disabled just think different) I have been discouraged from working as the childcare cost would be so high but they are old enough now that I would like to get a life back.

Soooo advise please on anyone who has used hypnotherapy...does it work and what kind of costs are we talking about..first stop would be fear of the dentist as I have been in agony for months.

This could cost me a few bob but worth it if it works.

I got hypnotised once but that was on a holiday in Magulaf lol. It worked for me in that the hyponist made me do crazy stuff in front of a live audience.

In regards to quitting smoking and helping you to sleep i would say yes it deffo would help. Im sure if u done some research online which you prob already have then you will find loadsa stuff on it where it has been shown to be successful. gl

Many moons ago Paul McKenna did a free gig on national non smoking day ( I think he also got the world record for hypnotising a group of people - 700 I think fom memory ).

My mrs was a smoker up until 30 seconds before the gig, having tried for years to give up.

Afterwards she managed 7 years without a fag.

She's smoking again now after some seriously stressfull times, but we'd give it another go.  Problem is McKenna don't come cheap, and I'm not sure about just picking a name out of the local rag.

But if you can find someone you trust, I'd recomend it.

As for dodgy sleep patterns, um, yup.  Two hours kip, then a few hours reading this and watching Scrubs just about does me on a nightly basis.  So I can't advise on that one.

I went to a hypnotherapist over five years ago. He was expensive but excellent. One pre visit. One full visit........job done.

I have recommended five people who have all given up and not gone back. He is in Mill Hill but he may be able to recommend somebody locally. His name is David Samson and the company are Avanti Hypnotherapy. He also cured me of sea sickness. The weight losss course was not so succesful.

Good luck

I am seriously going to look into this as I am sure costs will be paid back if I stop smoking, drinking etc

My main worry is that some quack will rip me off and mess with my head, I know it works as my mate was a "victim" at a hypnotherapist show we went to many years ago.

Thx for the advise and I will keep you updated.

I understand that hynotherapy can work very well but only if you truly want to give up.

Ask yourself if you really want to quit smoking.

Ask yourself again. Do you really want to quit smoking?

If you do then hypnotherapy can help.

If you're only quitting because you think it's the right thing to do then chances are you'll be wasting your money. Might as well spend it on a couple of duty free sleeves.

Hypnosis helped me give up smoking for 18 months, so yes it works. I should have taken his advice and gone for a refresher a year later.

I expect there's a massive difference from the guys that do it on shows and those that are professionals.  Go for a session, if you don't like it, don't go back, but it will more than likely be worth it.

Good hypnotherapy will be excellent for you. I'd recommend you look for a member of 'the society of neuro-linguistic progamming' as the training they receive is excellent. One session is probably all you will need for each change with a good hypnotist. Stopping smoking, losing your fear of the dentist and getting a better sleep pattern all combined is all possible to achieve in one session but might take 3 or 4  (beware anyone who tells you it will take 6 sessions or more, they're probably not good enough). Costs vary hugely. Expect to pay anything from £60 to £500 for a session. The most expensive is not necessarily the best. Ask for references from previous clients. Also, hypnotherapists who have high success rates tend to offer full money back guarantees.

Do it,it works. I'm not a good example though.

I went about 2 years ago to give up smoking,i gave up straight away,no cravings at all. I started again about a year ago due to a few personal problems.Stupid really.
I know 3 others who have been to see him, none of them have touched a fag since. It was £80,all you need is 1 session.

I have looked into it and most seem to do a "one off" session for stopping smoking which vary in price but come with a back up CD :-)

Evil pie has a valid point though...I want to give up smoking for the kids and financailly obviously but I actually enjoy smoking even though I know its bad for me which is why I thought hypnosis was the way to go. Surely if I REALLY wanted to give up I would without having someone mess with my brain..so its not going to work unless I WANT to give up?

There are lots of other issues I would like to sort out as I mentioned before so I am still thinking of going ahead with this, even if I can stop biting my nails it will be worth it. The biggest problem will be staying awake to make the appointment LOL

This guy is my favorite so far but I am still looking into it. What do you think?
