I think that some of the comments in this thread are a bit harsh, I don't think that the reason that Supernova posted was to get sympathy for a bad beat.

I would also imagine that anyone who was not aware of such a standard play is also fairly new to the game and would benefit far more from a decent explanation than sarcasm.

All I'm saying is if I'd have played badly, I may have stayed in.

I understand what grier78 is saying but  even the most unexperianced of players should see why this statement is beyond ridiculous

anxiously awaiting your "decent explanation".

Really..nobody overstepped the line here (Flushy's post is actually just a very funny one IMO) Supernova is not new to blonde and should know about that sometimes you get a bit of a sarcy reply when you ask a very obvious question..that's the way it works.

She will learn from all the comments made here and become a better player should she choose to pay attention to them.

Sorry Supernova, but as everyone else says, no matter how you word it, or what tourny it is (with the exception of some situations in sats) you never ever think twice about getting your chips in as quick as humanly possible.

Whatever source you read this in, or heard it from, destroy it, or never visit that place again. It's quite simply the worst and craziest advice ever.

Lol looks like I'm going to have to play elsewhere then because it's happening alot on Sky which is why I asked the question!!

As for hitting the J high flop, well I'd have been surprised if anyone hit, but the 2 spades on the flop turned out to be dangerous. All I'm saying is if I'd have played badly, I may have stayed in. I'm not at all offended by the way, just trying to become a better player and progress.

Sky Poker is not the ideal place to learn to play poker, the structure is far too fast and stacks too shallow for any real poker to be played. Due to the very high variance of poker played at high speed you will often see bad plays get rewarded and premium hands lose time after time. However, this does not mean that you should ever make non-optimal plays just to avoid getting unlucky. You need to take advantage of the times when you have a big advantage in a hand and maximise your return.

I would advise getting a poker mentor to talk you through a few slower structure tournaments on a site like Full Tilt, PokerStars or even better Blonde Poker.

I agree, which is why I think there are some fundamental issues that Supernova hasn't grasped yet.

I don't think that anyone has "overstepped the line" and I am as guilty as anyone of being sarcastic in posts, I just don't think that Supernova would have posted if she thought it was an obvious question.
